Ok look, the new terms for scratch came out, and people are NOT happy! And to be frank, I wasn’t to happy either I thought that it was gonna be something far worst, but the scratch team cleared the situation and showed that this would be something different. |My old opinions| https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/834710/?page=56#post-8942690 https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/862378/ Generalization. The use of AI in projects is... somewhat ok in my opinion. For at least the learning part. Kids can learn how to make bigger and better projects, like engines for specific things. But, i fear that it will be used differently. You see, this AI takes information from other projects and teaches it to younger kids. This is good for extra compilated code, but not good for creativity. Kids are gonna take the advice from the AI and make a project that similar to whatever the AI got from. Then they will post it, and sooner or later, the AI reads that same project and teaches it to someone else. And it will keep happening unless the person making the project breaks out the box and makes something creative, or if the AI doesn’t work, how i think it will. But even if it doesn’t i think creativity on scratch will diminish if AI is added. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copying This is the one I'm more upset about. Because if this is true, AI is going to copy us and steal ideas! Look, i like the idea of teaching kids code, especially harder engines that would take forever to learn, but copying other people’s ideas is not ok! Game developers, artists, even animators like me, or anyone that uses scratch will be harmed by this. We work hard on what we make and it’s being copied like nothing. I don’t think using AI like this is OK, AI for learning is ok, not for copying other people's work. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |How i feel now| I think as long as AI doesn't lower creativity, but actually promotes it, it should be fine. https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/862281/ WSO So I've heard that people are very upset about this and are going on strike, meaning that they won’t make any projects. Including those in the WSO, so to respect their decision, i will pause the WSO, depending on how bad the strike is. (like if it’s one or two people striking in WSO, then probably not) i don’t wanna be the guy that just continues it and leaves you in the dust. Well, that’s all i have to say. Bye!
sidenote: i am pretty late to this whole thing. i would have posted sooner, but i got sick.
