Prologue I’m tired. Bored. It’s a typical Saturday and I’m lying in bed, eyes wide open. I grabbed my phone and texted Elise. No reply. I received a call a few minutes later. It's Elise. “Hey,” I said. “I owe you an explanation. Before Tess “Wake up Elle!” My mom screams from the kitchen. Elle is short for Elleania, my name. I yawn and tap my bed frame. It's 7:40 in the morning and school starts at 8. “Coming,” I grumbled. I’m not one of the types of girls who wake up and think every day is a beautiful day. I push myself out of bed and grab my clothes. I guess a short grey top and worn-out jeans from K-mart are fine with me. I walk into the kitchen, my brown hair in lumps from tossing all night. “No sleep?” Mom asks me, looking at my ruffled hair. “Yeah.” I manage to say as I grab some toast. My older sister Tina grabs her phone from the counter. Tina was in 10th grade; I’m in 7th grade. I spread some jam on my toast and rushed upstairs. I rush to my bathroom and open my makeup drawer. My makeup seemed to smile at me as I grabbed my favorite products. I use my brand new Morphe kit and layer the lip-glosses. I grab my lucky choker and quickly rush downstairs just as the bus pulls up. Tina rolls her eyes as I rush to the bus. Tina was off for the week due to make-up quizzes. The student who passed both afel (assessment for exceptional learners) got to be off for a whole week while other kids did make up. I hop on the bus and sit next to my friend Elise. Elise is very tall, past all the teachers' heights. Elise is wearing the matching choker I gave her a few months ago. I won an incredibly lucky art contest and decided to go to the arcade to win prizes. I tried the hardest game at the arcade. I won and got two limited edition chokers and decided to give one to Elise. The bus hissed to a halt as a girl with light brown hair tied in a ponytail walked on. I’ve never seen her before. “She must be new.” Elise said as she sat in the empty seat next to us. I decided not to talk to her. I didn't even know who she was. The time went by so quick I didn't even know we were at school. Me and Elise got off the bus and headed into first period.
