Previous: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1180890004 And we are back again with more content, Yay. ok so I realize i probably should of clarified this earlier, but this story is still in it's beta form. as in it has not been thoroughly edited yet and still in it's very messy infant stages. and that's why the quality of writing is not the best. so please understand that it's not even near perfect. when I do finish this beta I will be doing some editing. like changing the title, and the names of some of the characters (particularly the twins since I only recently realized how similar their names are :| ) Idk if i will release the edited version on scratch, if I do I will make a separate account to share it on, but that honestly depends on you guys and if you will read it. anyways. Happy Pride!! I hope you enjoy! Story: Ember felt like his balance was thrown off the second the blindfold was secure. Everything was black. He felt as if he had just been taken hostage. A tight feeling wrenched it’s way into his gut. His gut told him to scream for help, but couldn’t. the tight feeling made Ember want to throw up. But amidst all the terror he found himself lost. There was nothing to look at but black void. He tried to find anything to keep his mind distracted but there was nothing but black, and silence. It was like the real world didn’t exist, like it never had existed. He felt himself drowning, in nothing. Ember barely realized when the car stopped. Orpheus got out and opened his door. “Ok here we are” he said. “Can I take it off now?” Ember asked trying to face the direction that he heard Orpheus’s voice. “Hang on” Orpheus said we are going to get you inside first”. “Oh that’s genius” Ember said sarcastically. “How am I supposed to get in when I cant see where we are going”. Ember could practically feel Orpheus flinch back at his sharp comment. “I’ll lead you in” he said. “What?” “I will lead you in”. Orpheus repeated. “I won’t let you run into anything, just let me see your hand”. Orpheus gently picked up Ember’s hand. Ember almost wanted to snatch his hand away from Orpheus. But the way Orpheus held his hand made him want to stay. The gentleness that Orpheus possessed while holding his hand was reassuring. Ember would let him win this time, but he wasn’t going to be lured into a false sense of security. Ember slowly stood up and let Orpheus guide him. One step at a time, one gentle tug in the right direction. Soon Orpheus stopped moving, indicating they were there a were waiting for the door to open. Ember felt the gust of wind as the doors opened, he was walking into the lion’s den the question was whether he was fellow lion, or a sheep sent to the slaughter. Orpheus walked Ember in before taking the blindfold. Immediately Ember was flooded with light, he squinted to see better. After his vision had adjusted enough to be able to see, he noticed they were in some kind of abandoned warehouse, the ground was concrete and the walls were cinder brick painted a pale yellow, the roof slanted upwards with a few windows where it elevated, and by the wall they had just came in at, was some wood selves. In the middle of the warehouse though was a huge wood table, where all the AOS was sitting. Proteus and Antaeus sat beside each other. Antaeus’ dusty blond looked as if it was built into his deer skull mask, Proteus’ face was completely hidden by his mask, the only thing you could see of him was his brown curls. On the other side of Antaeus was Hephaestus who refused to look at Ember. Metis and Poseidon sat beside each other at the end of the table Metis was stroking a pufferfish he held in his hand, and the pufferfish seemed fine with being out of water as well, it was odd. Poseidon looked the same as she had before though, that hood still hiding her face just enough to not tell who she was. Prometheus sat down at the head of the table next to Atlas. Ember walked over to the table following Orpheus who sat down across from Antaeus and gestured to the chair next to him across from Hephaestus. Orpheus was smart and Ember would give him that, sitting in the middle chair so which ever of the two chairs he chose he would be sitting next to him. Ember decided to just play along, sitting next to Orpheus and across from Hephaestus who only looked at him to give him hard stares. “Sorry for taking so long to get here, we had to pick up a extra guest” Prometheus said looking at Ember who shuffled uncomfortably. “But now that we are here, we can start this meeting” Prometheus continued. “I know we have all heard of the one who healed Orpheus… twice.” Orpheus looked down embarrassed.
(Cont.) “And I know you all waiting to hear about what he chose- “. “Well, I think it’s a little obvious, seeing as he’s here right now” Antaeus said resting his chin on his cuffed hands. “Well then would you like to lead the meeting?”. Prometheus asked sarcastically. Antaeus uncuffed his hands and shook his head letting Prometheus lead in talking again. Prometheus settled down and continued. “Yes, Ember did chose to help us, which is a bit of a shock” the villains besides the family started muttering and whispering to each other. “HOWEVER,” Prometheus said speaking over everyone. “That does NOT mean we are to tell him everything, I decided it would be better for his safety if he knew as little as possible about us a-“. “It would be better for his safety if he wasn’t part of this at all”. Hephaestus said interrupting Prometheus. Prometheus slowly stood up. “Believe me I know, but this was, and still is Ember’s choice”. “And are we sure this is the choice he wants?”. Prometheus sighed and looked at Ember. “Are you certain this is what you want?” he asked and Ember could vaguely see a comforting smile under his veil. Was Ember certain? No. not at all. But would anyone? Would anyone be certain about helping the AOS? For a moment he wanted to say no, for a split second the thought lingered in his mind, but only for a second. Ember nodded confirming his choice, knowing that it could now be written in stone. Hephaestus seemed a little disappointed and irritated at this answer, but he said nothing more. “We are going to pay him, right? I don’t think we should have him working free labor.” Metis said looking up at Prometheus still gently stroking the pufferfish in his lap. Poseidon nodded in agreement. “Of course, I was getting to that” Prometheus said. Ember twitched. “What?” he asked, feeling a storm developing in his stomach. “I don’t need to be paid” he said trying to sound demanding, but the words came out a little frailer than he would have liked. “Ember, we aren’t going to have you do this without doing something for you” Orpheus said gently. “But-“. “Kid, this isn’t negotiable, it’s happening” Proteus said interpreting Ember. “Proteus, you could be a little nicer about it” Poseidon said shooting him a glance. “Could I?” Proteus said likely smirking under his mask. “Antaeus, can’t you tell your brother to lay off it a bit” Atlas said standing up. Antaeus put his hands up in defeat. “Don’t look at me” he said. “I’d rather not have Ember be part of this at all” Hephaestus said jumping in the argument. “Well, last time I checked it wasn’t up to you” Metis snapped. Ember could barely hear the rest of their argument everything started blurring for him. He couldn’t listen to this. “Are you ok?” Orpheus asked in a whisper, breaking Ember out of whatever trance he was stuck in. Ember nodded. “QUIET!” Prometheus yelled over everyone, standing back up. They all immediately stopped arguing. “Thank you” Prometheus continued. “This isn’t something that is to be argued about, we are going to be paying Ember for his work, and that’s final”. Everyone who was previously standing up sat back down. Prometheus pulled at a piece of paper and a pen before he began writing. He then showed it to Atlas and some of the other villains at the table. Metis shook his head and scribbled out the first number and wrote another one, passing it around they seem to like this one a lot more. It was then passed to Ember whose face almost dropped when he saw the number, it was certainly more than he was getting paid now. “That’s … a lot” he said, his words barely coming out more than a whisper. “Let me see” Orpheus asked being the only one who hadn’t seen it yet. Ember showed the paper to Orpheus who nodded. “That’s a good price to start on, if it was me, I would raise to here” he said writing another number on the paper and handing it back to Ember. “That’s way too much! How do you guys have this much money?”. “Prometheus found black oil when younger and with our screwed-up economy he made and still makes a lot of money” Atlas answered. Ember showed Prometheus who just nodded. “That’s a good price” he said. Ember slumped back in his chair. “Can we just start with the first number” Ember said in disbelief. “We can start there and work it out later” Prometheus said. Ember nodded, handing the paper back to Prometheus. Antaeus smiled. “I like this kid, how the heck did you find him” he said with a laugh. Orpheus smiled. “I guess I just got lucky” he said.
