Lore: Ryan always looked up to Dougal, he wanted to be just like him (well, not the left foot disability) but he needed to learn the flop. Dougal was his trainer and he helped out a lot. But Ryan's mental health drained a lot due to his mother dying of unpopularity, and Dougal cheers him up a little by doing the flop dance. His biological mother (not the teacher) always said: "useless boy, you cant do anything right." and Ryan felt so bad about himself and having bad thoughts. One day, Dougal confronts Ryan, and realises that popularity wasn't worth it. And that's how the song starts. Ryan tries to help Dougal to regain his confidence.
