Chapter 10 In GravityClan, things were calmer. Chamomilefur woke up and stretched. She shook the moss off her pelt before heading out into the clearing to grab a shrew. As she settled down, Acornleaf came hurrying out of the nursery. “There you are!” she said. “Where did you think I- ow! was? Asked Chamomilefur. Acornleaf didn’t respond, she just nuzzled her sister's flank and settled down next to her. “How are you feeling?” Acornleaf asked. “I’m feeling fine, just tired and hungry. Would you like to share this shrew?” Acornleaf nodded slowly and took a bite of the prey. “Thank you,” she said through a mouthful of shrew. Chamomilefur nodded. She licked her little sister in between the ears and struggled to get up, her belly weighing her down. When she did manage to get up, she walked over to Sunfur. “Hi!” meowed Sunfur. “What is it? Is everything ok?” Chamomilefur smiled “I’m expecting kits, not recovering from a broken bone! Yes I’m ok! I just wanted to know if I could join a border or hunting patrol.” Sunfur tilted her head to the side, thinking. “Alright, you can go on a border patrol, but be careful. If there’s a skirmish, come straight back to camp. Ok?” Chamomilefur nodded her thanks, and walked off to join the patrol. Chamomilefur bounded through the undergrowth as fast as she could, enjoying the feel of the wind on her fur. When she got back to camp she gasped. “No!” she cried. “Not him!” in the center of the clearing, sat a gray furred tom, with a scarred muzzle. “What is it!?’ asked Acornleaf, as she pressed against her sister's flank. “Do you know him?” Chamomilefur sighed. “Yes, I know him. He was my mate. He was also the reason I came back to the clans. He’s vicious and cruel. “ Acornleaf gasped in surprise and lead Chamomilefur back to the nursery. “Stay here,” she whispered, as she turned around and went back to the clearing. “Where is she!?!?” shouted the tom. “Chamomile, where is she? I know she was expecting my kits! She must come back with me!” Chamomilefur shivered, but bravely stepped out into the clearing. “Hi Shard.” she said coolly. “The name’s actually Chamomilefur, and I’m not coming with you. My home is here, and my kits will be born here. Not near a rogue like you!”. Shard’s eyes lit up when he saw her. He padded over to her. Before he could get too close, Chamomilefur lashed out with her claws unsheathed, and cut the tom’s nose. He yowled in fury, but before he could do anything, the whole clan was pushing him out of the camp. When he was gone, Chamomilefur sat down, her flanks heaving. Acornleaf came hurrying over. “Are you alright?” she asked. Chamomilefur nodded. “I’m fine, I just need to take a nap.” Chamomilefur padded heavily over to the nursery, curled up in her nest, and fell asleep.
