Chapter 11 The day after Shard arrived in the GravityClan camp, the whole clan was buzzing. Chamomilefur woke to see her sister at the mouth of the nursery. “Come in,” she said. Acornleaf padded into the den and settled down next to her sister. “What is it? Is everything alright? She asked. Acornleaf slowly nodded. “Everything is as it should be. Honeystar wants to talk to you about Shard.” Chamomilefur let out a long sigh, then gasped in pain. “Are you alright? Where are you hurt?” asked Acornleaf, with a look of fear in her eyes. “I’m ok.” Chamomilefur said. “My kits are just restless, and I think I wrenched my shoulder again.” Acornleaf nodded. “Alright. I’m just worried about you. Yesterday was a lot, and your kits are close to being born. You have to be careful.” Chamomilefur sighed. “Come on, let’s go see Honeystar.” The heavily pregnant she-cat struggled up out of her nest, and walked over to Honeystar’s den, with her sister pressing against her. “Come in,” said Honeystar. When she saw Chamomilefur, her honey colored eyes softened. “Hello Chamomilefur. I bet seeing your old mate was quite the shock. Wasn’t it?” Chamomilefur nodded. “It was. But he’s not my former mate. We were barely mates at all.” Honeystar nodded. “I see, why did you really leave his group?” Chamomilefur took a step back, and let out a shaky breath. “I left when I found out I was expecting kits. I had already thought about leaving, but I was scared. Shard would hurt cats that displeased him. But I didn’t want my kits being born in that place, with that cat. So I left. I snuck out one night, and never looked back. I don’t know how he found me. I just know that I can never go back, and I will do whatever I can to protect my clan and my kits from him.” Honeystar nodded. “Wow. I understand now. We will not let him harm you. You are safe as long as you are in this clan. If we see him, we will drive him out.” Chamomilefur smiled a little bit. “Thank you Honeystar. I appreciate your kindness.” Honeystar smiled. “You’re welcome. Now go eat some prey with your sister.” Chamomilefur and Acornleaf padded out of the den, into the warm sunshine. They headed over to the freshkill pile, and settled down side by side. Acornleaf looked over at her sister. “Why didn’t you tell me?” she asked softly. Chamomilefur sighed. “I was scared. I didn’t want anyone to get hurt. I also just didn’t want to trouble you with that, so soon after we reconnected.” Acornleaf shook her head. “Next time, tell me. Ok?” Chamomilefur nodded, and licked her sister in between the ears. Before they could stand up, Sunfur came padding by. “Hi guys! Can I join you?” Chamomilefur looked at her sister, and nodded. “Sure!” said the light brown furred she-cat. “Settle down.” After the three she-cats finished their meal, they shared tongues before padding away from each other, and going their separate ways for the day.
