Hey! I wrote this all the way back in 2022. (It's clear from my voice.) Just click the green flag to play the song and press [F] or click the screen to get the karaoke. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This song was inspired by (and first written in) a chat with @phantomd8. We were talking about how he fell out with @GoldenEagleStudios after being practically left in the dust by him. A few months later, a family member died, and I finished writing the lyrics, composing it on LMMS, and compiling the final recording in the next few days. Looking back, my lyrics seem quite anthropocentric: though we're fairly smart, we're still not infallible. But in the end, when the world's too big and your odds too small, the best you can do is trust your wits to get you through it. We're all holding the reins: every one of us can steer with them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~LYRICS~~~~~~~~~~~ A year can flip the world around It's weird what life can do In these troubled times, I know you're hurting too But this disaster is merely nature Life will find a way I know that I'm certainly going to Live to see the next day Did 3.8 billion years of evolution prepare me to die? I have feelings, I know that, so I've reason to cry And even when life sends me down, falling underground Being Homo sapiens sapiens, I can at least try to turn my world around Though the marks my kind leave are mainly scars Though this fiasco seems to stretch the hours Our concerns can be piled up in a large mound But being a Cro-Magnon, I can turn my world around Sudden irrational change Is built into the infrastructure of life Don't think in our range We'd be safe from this thing's strife But this disaster is merely nature Life will find a way I know that I'm certainly going to Live to see the next day Did 3.8 billion years of evolution prepare me to die? I have feelings, I know that, so I've reason to cry And even when life sends me down, falling underground Being Homo sapiens sapiens, I can at least try to turn my world around Though the marks my kind leave are mainly scars Though this fiasco seems to stretch the hours And our concerns can be piled up in a large mound But being a Cro-Magnon, I can turn my world around And the normalcy of yesterday was never meant to be Earth's current state is fragile Can't fellow humans see? A miracle might SAVE the WORLD If it doesn't, then hey I'm a modern human, so Perhaps I'll find a way Well, 3.8 billion years of evolution can't build me to die I have feelings, but they've changed, and I don't want to cry And even though life sent me down, falling underground Being Homo sapiens sapiens, I gave it a try, and turned my world around Though the marks my kind leave are mainly scars Though this fiasco seemed to stretch the hours Our concerns could be piled up in a large mound But being a Cro-Magnon, I could flip my world around I changed my fate, whoa ~~~~~~~~~~~~~CREDITS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - for inspiring this song. -"Roman Name of Eris" and Windows Notepad for the lyrics (I wrote them there). -John Green for The Fault in Our Stars, which inspired some of the lyrics. -Michael Crichton for Jurassic Park, specifically Ian Malcolm.
