read here!!! I slip into the hunter uniform. It looks like a prison uniform, but is pretty comfortable. It is a bit too big in the sleeves, so I take my trusty scissors and cut it off. It looks sloppy now, but whatever. I use the scrap to tie my hair into a ponytail, brushing my bangs out of my eyes. I try to smooth down my flyaways, but give up after they continue to pop back up. Finally, I slowly, cautiously, open the front door. It creaks loudly, having never been used since it happened. I wince at the noise, but continue on my way. I look around, seeing the trees, the grass, the animals...I touch my hand to the ground, exhilarated. Suddenly, a shadow falls over me. "Who are you?" A man in a hunter's uniform and a huge frown stares me down. "Um, I'm Lacie. I'm a n-new hunter." I couldn't control the quiver in my voice. "How can you be new? You were assigned at the start of the war." The man snarled. "M-my family were hiders, and I thought I was t-too. I was hiding with them and then d-discovered my m-marking." I said, lying quickly. "I t-tried to get my family, but they got away." "Hmmph!" The man said, suspicion disappearing. "Come to my camp. We'll fix up that incompetence fast." "Oh n-no, that's oka-" "I insist! We can't be having hunters that simply drag us down. One would think you're a hider yourself!" He chuckled at his joke, not noticing how nervous I got. "My name is General Ketchup." "Like the condiment?" I blurted. "Sure. But make fun of me for it and I'll treat you like I'd treat a hider." General Ketchup leaned in, hissing his last words. We both knew what he was implying. "Yes sir." I replied. "C'mon. Let's go to the camp. It's not far." General Ketchup motioned for me to follow him. Great. I was about to enter a den full of my enemies. And if I was discovered, it would mean certain death.
NOTE: Mentions death. Btw don't blame me if there are any errors. Just point them out in the comments *NICELY* and I'll fix it! Heart and start for pt. 3!
