As Alias gets a new vessel, the vessel can evolve (not like Pokemon evolution) to more suit their desire. Someone may catch on to this, forcing them to evolve faster, But to prevent them from catching onto the evolution speeding up, they can make in-betweens that are less complex and powerful to catch even the smartest off-guard
