Lately I've been wondering about Hornetpaw from me and Sparrow's book Cloudedpines. This character should have more of a backstory I feel like, since they are such a beloved on to me. Talking with an online friend, Clue?, we discuss some ideas. Below I'll be writing out some of what we have came up with!! Hornet was with his two friends from the start. They had found each other all loners and became a small group. Hornet was raised for a little by his mother, untill at 3 moons old, his mother decide it was time for him to go. She left. Dusty, a tom who loves danger, was abandoned by his family and chained by two legs. After ecaping, he found Waterfall. Waterfall, a traumatic she-cat who Hornet looks up to, had struggled to raise her little sister a 3 moons old . After her father murdered the rest of her family, shes forever scarred. (Does her sister die before she meets Dusty??) Dusty and Waterfall, little older than Hornet, take Hornet in. As siblings they travel until they reach a barn, where a leader called August invites them in. Their family system is ranked, every day they hold sort of "friendly" battles, ranking up if winning, down if losing. They claw each other untill one of them gives up, gets overpowered, or August calls it a draw. Someone who Hornet befriends called Kali, becomes leader when August is found dead near the thunder path. Kali and Hornet become great friends and, even at Hornet's young age, they become sort of mates. Little over 3 moons later, Waterfall and a kind tom called Double, a very very kind tom, are choosen to fight. Hornet watches satisfied after winning his last battle with Dusty and ranking up to rank 5. Dusty, clicked his tounge in slight anger that Hornet won. As Dusty and Hornet get ready to watch the next fight, their eyes wided in shock as Double and Waterfall refuse to fight each other. "I won't become a monster like them!" Waterfall wailes towards Hornet, Kali and Dusty. At first Hornet is taken by rage at being referred to as a monster. "We aren't;t mosters!" He argued, "We don't kill anyone! We practice our skills!" Dusty and Double take Waterfalls side and Hornet stands between them and his dear friend Kali. Waterfall runs away and after some words, it is decided thanks to Dusty, that the fighting should stop. Kali, Hornet, Dusty and Double race after Waterfall and the meet up at a gorge. They inform Waterfall, and Hornet agrees that the family/awfuly good friends should leave the barn and start off somewhere new. Suddenly a yowl form the gorge informs the group that Kali was swept up by the strong current. Double goes in after him, though Kali is a much bigger tom, but they never make it out, their heads going underwater for the final time as the others watch in weary dreadful shock. the original three travelling together again. After Hornet reaches his 8th moon, he's made a tough decision; to leave his only friends in the search of something new. "We will meet again," He mews to his friends, his considered sister and brother he'll always look up to. "We will," Dusty mews farewell and Waterfall touches noses with Hornet. Hornet departs, but he never really gets to see the snappy tom again. Because the next time they meet Waterfall informs Hornet, now Hornetpaw, of the news. This is only an idea of many and rough draft for sure. Someone, I think they were called Clue, helped me with it with their own OC Waterfall. Other characters are versions of ones I was with while playing WCUE and figuring out Hornet's story. Ideas can change but let me know what you think!
