☆☆☆CONTENT WARNING☆☆☆ pretty please don't read this if you don't feel comfortable with bl00d, d3@th, or parental @bus3 The evening was cold. The pinks and oranges in the sky would have been beautiful, had they not been covered up by the clouds of an angered Zeus. "ARES!!" The world seemed to still, and even Ares didn't move. Instead, he simply said, "yes, father?" This angered Zeus even more, for how could his son be so calm knowing that Zeus' wrath was about to be shoved upon him? "Ares, you have broken my rule once again! It is my most simple rule: don't interfere with the mortals!" Suddenly, Zeus was surrounded by his own lightning, bolts shooting in every direction. Even through the chaos, however, Ares stood, unwavering. "I was created for bl00dshed, correct? I don't understand why you punish me for such simple things. It is in my nature to fight, as much as it is in your nature to-" "SILENCE! You will spout this foolish nonsense no longer! You have disobeyed me, and you must be punished!" One of Zeus' lightning bolts strikes the dry ground with a deafening boom, inches from where Ares stands. "I do not fear you, father. Had you truly wanted to kill me I would not be standing here unharmed. However, if it is a fight you want, then a fight you shall have!" The air was palpable, and even the grass where they stood seemed to still in anticipation. Finally, with a loud roar, Ares took out his spear and charged with it aimed directly at Zeus' throat. He knew that he could not kill him, and it was purely on instinct to aim at an important part of his enemy's body. Zeus threw thunderbolt after thunderbolt, his aim sloppy but strong enough to shake the mountains surrounding them. Ares simply sidestepped away from most of the lightning bolts, with a grace most wouldn't think his bulky body able to possess. "I can't win like this" he thought, his lip curling in annoyance. Zeus' attacks were getting more and more precise, Ares having to block them with his spear. Their battle seemed to last millenia, Zeus repeatedly throwing the same attacks, Ares dodging but being unable to land any attacks on his father. Finally, Ares, who practically has steam coming out of his nose, charged at Zeus once more, full force, full speed, and full intent to kill. Zeus stops, surprised for a moment, before trying to fight back. Unfortunately for him, that little opening of surprise was all Ares needed to land a powerful blow- right in Zeus' god kidneys. "You... YOU LITTLE INGRATE!" Zeus' yellow eyes flashed as gold bl00d poured out of the hole where Ares' spear was just a second before. Ares took the opportunity to strike again, this time aiming for Zeus' heart. But this time, Ares had lost the element of surprise, and Zeus blocked Ares' spear with a glowing golden plate on his arm, swatting it away from his chest. Ares, grip tight on his spear, lunged again, throwing a series of jabs at Zeus, who dodges them with ease. Occasionally, Zeus slips, a cut on his arm, his neck punctured, his heart feeling like it's about to erupt from his chest. "Enough of this fooling around! One of us needs to win else this shall continue until the end of time." Zeus speaks with complete confidence, chin up, back straight, although his breathing seems more forced and harsh than before. "Yes! It is time for the real fun to begin!" Ares holds his spear in front of him, oblivious to the power that hides behind Zeus. It's a ball of lightning, small for now, but it could destroy worlds should Zeus decide to have it do so. Ares continues to stand there, his breath coming in rapid gasps. Finally, after a long moment, Ares and Zeus both attack as if it were choreographed. Ares lunges yet again, and Zeus throws his ball of lightning and destruction. The dust and smoke cleared. Zeus stood alone in the grass. Ares' spear had only really hit him once through the entire battle. There was a crater left in the mountain, and in that crater was a broken, bl00dy Ares. His limbs were mangled, all pointing in directions they were never made for. His face was a heap of muscle and gor3. His voice was ragged and shallow when he spoke, "and I thought... I was immortal." Zeus, head still held high, looked down at his son. "I expected better of you," before turning around. He would never let anyone see him regret anything. Especially not his son. So he definitely didn't want Ares to see him on the verge of tears. ~~~THE END~~~
Basically I didn't know how to write this in ToT but here's the context if it doesn't make sense: the gods are not supposed to interfere with mortals, but Ares has a large amount of bl00dlust, and so he made it known to a small amount of mortals that he would gladly k¡ll, injure, or simply fight anyone if asked. Zeus found out about this and got Ares in trouble quite a few times, but Ares continued to cause havoc for the mortals anyways. This time, Ares had done it so much that Zeus lost it. Also, I got this information from Ares himself, so it should be accurate, but I just want to say that it's a pretty touchy subject for him so please be nice (and don't make fun of him)
