Space for call. description ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Leeds' fish", from Greek ἰχθύς, ichthys, "fish". Leedsichthys is an extinctf pachycormid fish that lived in the oceans of the Middle to Late Jurassic period. It is amongst the largest fish to have ever existed. Originally claimed to have been over 30 m (98 ft) long. Recent studies have lowered this to about 16.5 m (54 ft) for the largest specimens. Along with its close pachycormid relatives Bonnerichthys and Rhinconichthys, Leedsichthys is a large filter-feeder. It was discovered in the 1880's by Alfred Nicholson Leeds, who found the fossils in loam near peterbourough, England.
