READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS! The first time i saw this scene in Deltarune, I immediately thought of Chara. This is the most direct confirmation that laugher/smiling is commonly used in the Underground to cope with grief or trauma. Some people think that when Asriel says “I should have just laughed it off like you did” that he means Chara found it funny. Really, laughter is rarely used in Undertale to convey amusement.
