“You seem a little overzealous about your raygun and your ‘evil plans’. You sure you’re one of the prophecy’s heroes? “Hah! You expect me to spawn in here with a raygun and triangular shoulder pads and expect me NOT to monologue evilly?” ___________________________________________ This is Star, who took to the Dark World like a duck to the water, embracing every single unlikely happening with confidence. It would be nice if there was a little skill to match the confidence. She doesn’t seem to fully grasp that this isn’t just a story, and therefore has few qualms seeing herself as an evil mastermind (despite being proven otherwise by the legend, being contrarily sentimental, a coward, and her general incompetence with actually being “evil”. At least she has monologues?) I’m not sure what her main role in the party will be. I think it’d be funny for her raygun to work for attacks but also as a magic healing source for the party (to her dismay) but at that point she’s kind of hogging the fighting techniques so I’ll let Moon’s character have her role first then I’ll decide mine. Spends an embarrassing amount of time cooped up in her lair (a small, messy, poster-lined bedroom) practicing her evil laugh and monologues. It has to be in secret otherwise she’d be giving everyone access to the best blackmail material ever. She also draws! Somehow is fully aware of how dialogue boxes work and manipulates them so she can use leetspeak sometimes. It’s very annoying. (Her name sometimes shows as “5t4r” but no one knows when.) I think she and Moon landed in different parts of the dark world, and while Moon was talking with Percy, she was doing… this, and they meet with Star as a miniboss (like Lancer at the beginning of the game but later). Then things are sorted out and everyone’s like “Sorry, this is the third hero?… for real?” And she joins the party. (Continuing bio in credits)
I find it interesting how a lot of Toby Fox’s characters have distinctive laughs (across games) and I could go on and list a bunch, Star probably goes “Ahahahaha!!” (Double exclamation mark mandatory) but when she warms up to her friends more she probably goes “LOLOLOL” or “XDXDXD” a tiny bit more often (don’t ask how they’re pronounced, once again, she has weird text box 4th wall breaking powers). The “Ahahahaha!!” Is still always always always applicable and occurs most. Also she randomly interjects with “hah!” Sometimes. Of course she does. Her boots can fly but she prefers using the wheels on the back instead and refuses to give an adequate explanation for why. (“HEELIES ARE C00L!!!” doesn’t count as an adequate explanation, especially when she trips over them a non-zero percent of the time.) She’s a cyborg, it’s not lore relevant. The digital star visor can display emoticons, or just normal facial expressions. DESIGN NOTE: The star on her chest isn’t supposed to be skin. It just looks like that because the colors are exactly the same. If I had to compare her to some characters in Deltarune that already exist, it’d be Lancer, (Role-wise, as in silly guy who’s a miniboss/claims to be a quote unquote “bad guy” until they all become friends, although Star’s has a bigger story role) Queen, (minus the sophistication, it’s mostly vibe wise and I think they’d have a vaguely similar sense of humor) Rouxls, (his whole deal with trying to seem more intimidating, powerful, smart, and likable than he actually is and also trying to be a threat, the difference is that Star doesn’t work for anyone or bootlick and also doesn’t have that god-awful accent) and uhh the entirety of Sweet Cap’n Cakes. (Vibe wise also they talk similarly sometimes/similar humor) Also Berdly but we don’t talk about that ❌❌❌ I think I’m setting her up to be either the most annoying person ever or the coolest person ever (because she’s so uncool she loops back to being cool) and I’m not sure which. Btw she uses minced oaths a lot in her speech felt the need to bring that up. Love the concept of a trio of completely dysfunctional Delta Heroes (one of which who isn’t even in the prophecy) who are all only really held together by the “power of friendship” (Star’s making that difficult). Wonder what Moon’s will be like. This will be THE team of all time. I might make sprites later. song: Star’s theme and leitmotif that I’m gonna rework cuz I don’t like it much (might change theremin to sonar ping cuz it sounds too ghostly and not enough like a weird cybernetic alien thing. I do kind of like the gun rev up/shoot sound at the end but I’m not sure if it came across well. Also in case you’re wondering it’s supposed to loop and loops well in JummBox but not on scratch…..
