I started 'Near & Far' to give dragons like myself a look into the outside world and I always do my best to travel to towns after new release in order to read to those like me. I'm so proud of what 'Near & Far' has become and I hope I never have to stop writing and spreading what I love. (@_ruckus) Valakadyn - When I was a dragonet, I didn’t know who or what I wanted to be. Back then, I didn’t have the time to even think about it. But, after I took that leap to find out, stepping away from what I knew, I found my calling, and someplace to call my own, too. (@AmethysttheSilkwing) Mezereum - I was raised by a family of scholars and explorers, so I developed a love for discovery and adventure pretty early on. Whilst venturing the continents with my siblings, I came across a small gecko, who has become my most loyal companion. Although most of my family has taken on different paths, I have begun to document my findings and perfect my skills as a journalist, driven by a passion to uncover the truth and share it with the world. (@-_Firelilies_-) ___________________________________________ - Article - Just last night, cries for help in the form of letters started arriving in the throne rooms of queens across both continents, but despite the monarchs' usual willingness to help, they were unable to do so due to disasters that had plagued their own kingdoms. As it was last night, three tragic disasters struck the continents. First, a tsunami struck Pyrrhia’s eastern coast, unlike the small-scale, relatively harmless ones that are common in that region, this one was different. Reports say that the wave that came crashing down on coastal cities in the Bay of a Thousand Scales was the tallest any of the locals had ever seen, and a council of specialists can confirm that this was the largest ever recorded, with the death toll in the thousands. It's hard to believe this is only the start of our misfortune. A dust-bull soon followed the tsunami, which struck around noon on the southwestern side of the Kingdom of Sand. Similar to the tsunami, this colossal sandstorm was one of the largest ever recorded, blocking out the sun for nearly an hour. The damage done by this storm makes the destruction at the coast pale in comparison, with the eye of the storm being only 3 km away from the Scorpion Den (One of the largest settlements in the Sand Kingdom), the city was destroyed, and witnesses claim that in the hours following the storm they were forced to dig dragons out of their homes through upper story windows as first floor windows and doors had been blocked by the layers of sand and debris. It was two hours before the Dust Bull and one hour before the tsunami struck, the first drops of rain to fall in central Pantala. The Hivewings who resided in the Hives during the storm claim that the tempest went from nothing more than a drizzle to a torrential downpour in minutes, which was soon accompanied by acorn-sized hail and lightning within the preceding hours. It was only when the clouds finally began to clear that the scope of the damage became clear. Hercules Hive had unfortunately collapsed, causing the death of more than half of its inhabitants and leaving others severely injured. These events, though tragic, are also laced with suspicions, most notably, directed at Animus by the name of Titan. Titan, who is a Hivewing and Rainwing hybrid, is most famous for ending that last great war and, in the years following the war, sewing his own mouth shut as a way of renouncing animus magic. But in light of recent events, some are starting to doubt if his claims of renouncing the historically dangerous magic are really true. Many believe these events are connected, and, with Titan being the only currently known animus, dragons looking for someone to blame for the loss of their family members and acquaintances are writing to their queens and pleading for Titan's arrest. While none of the queens have yet to act, we believe this will not last. At the moment, we do not know who is responsible for the deaths of so many dragons, nor do we know how they will be punished for what they have done. But our condolences go out to those who have lost loved ones in this tragic event, and we encourage dragons to help those in need in these trying times. Thanks so much for reading, and that's it for Near & Far
