Stories: ———— Buchanan’s backstory (Written by me) “Thanks for coming with such short notice. The name’s Jane.” A woman with dark skin and long brown braids strolled to my truck window to shake my hand. “Nice to meet you Jane, im Hannah. And no problem. How much experience does he have? I was hoping for a lot, maybe he can teach me something since this is my first horse,” I say as i rest my elbow on the open window. The warm summer breeze filled the truck with scents of wilderness and adventure. “He’s an ex dressage champion, so i would say a lot,” she says with a smirk. “Oh good,” i say with a sigh of relief. “Why cant you keep him again?” “Well, i have to move back to the big city because my parents are getting older and he needs a rider that can give him the love and attention he deserves,” Jane sighs. “Well can i go see him?” I ask, hopping out of the truck and grabbing a lead. “Right this way.” I follow jane to a seemingly empty pasture when she yells, “Buck!” A tall and handsome stallion canters forward from the hills, throwing his head and whining to his owner. “Hi Buchanan!” I exclaim, reaching my hand outwards to slip the harness around his head. “Great, now if you excuse me, i have some calls to make,” Jane strolls away, without saying goodbye to me or her horse. “Well Bucky, let’s get you home.” We walk to the trailer, i flip down the back and load him inside. As i step inside my truck and drive away i mutter, “I really hope this isn’t a mistake…” ———— Collab with @peakunicorn (Written by @peakunicorn) In the arena was Hannah working with Bucky, her horse. She tried to climb on the mounting block, but Bucky kept walking away. Hannah jumped down, frustrated and tried to grab Bucky's leads. Abby saw it, "Can I help?" she asked nicely "I've had a horse like that before." Hannah looked up from almost falling into the ground while trying to grab Bucky's leads, "You can try I guess..." She said a bit nevous. Abby jumped in front of Bucky, making herself big and dangerous. Bucky was surprised by that and slowed down a little, so Abby grabbed the leads and directly got pain in her hand. "Man, why did my horse that." she said, Hannah heard Abby had pain somewhere. "Uhhmm, what happend with your horse then?" she said curiously. "It bit me" Abby gave Bucky back to Hannah. "Why? Tame horses don't randomly bite normally." Hannah was even more curious now. "I guess they abused the horse, or it is a wild one. I came close and wanted to pet it, then it reared and bit me," Abby explained. "Can I see the bite, you might need to put something over it" Hannah asked. "It hurts alot, maybe it's a good idea..." Abby said showing the bite, "I shall really put something over it, ehh. What's your name? I'm Hannah. "I didn't tell who I am!" Abby said surprised, "I'm Abby, nice to meet you Hannah! "Nice to meet you too Abby, but come with me. I will try to find some bandages or something for that bite!" "Okay then, but first untack your horse before it steps on it's leads!" "Oops!" Hannah called, while untacking Bucky. After Abby's bite had a bandage over it and Hannah untacked Bucky, Abby explained some things over horses that are hard to climb up. "I should at first try without mounting block, if Bucky still runs away I would try to let someone hold the reins. When he standed still he gets a treat, then give smaller treats and say 'good boy' when he stands still. If he moves just let him go backwards, slowly give no more treats. Don't forget to say 'good boy each time!' Hannah smiled "thanks Abby! You are really helping me out!" "No problem, I am just doing this from nature." Abby said half laughing, then Hannah begun to laugh too. When they were done with laughing Hannah asked "Should I help you with your horse somewhere this week?" "If you want, it would be great!" Abby said smiling at Hannah "I just never tried to tame a wild or abused horse!" ————
