star's rouxls design evolution and things

After my whole project hiatus went off I decided to start posting completely random, completely not-related-to-the-things-I-should-be-doing (I've had four items on my to-do list and I have completed not one of them.), will not reach a target audience beyond 4 people, projects. This is one of them. Beware the tangents because I like Rouxls and talk about him a lot. (You'll see some of these from previous posts and also if you go on my Youtube community posts) I'm the number 1 fan of Rouxls Kaard. Or maybe I'm not but I've got to be somewhere on that list. I've been drawing him since 5th grade as you can see on that first image which also happened to be my banner a week or so ago. I adore simpler videogame designs because you can do a lot with interpretation and stuff!!! 2022's design is not important and there for reference (i have a lot more old traditional drawings of this man from when I was 10, but I have not displayed them for public view nor do I plan to.) but it is uhh pretty simple and also I just don't like it much. Admittedly I was 10. The first image shows the design I kind of developed when I got back into Deltarune. I have drawn him when I was "less interested" in it but I just don't quite like that design? Because I did not know the character as well during that period of time. Anyway this 1st design has a lot of spade shape imagery. I like how his hair looks, this design was more based on the "Rouxls is made of ink and also his hair is feathers" headcanon which is neat but I've grown a bit further away from it over time. Very flowy but once again my more recent designs are very sharp. You could get a papercut from him. 2) Also that previous design. Was my PFP for a while but no one recognized him so I changed it to the glorious Deltarune Rouxls Kaard line sticker. 3) This is where things take. a bit of a turn? I'm sticking more to the "Rouxls is 2D or at the very least incredibly thin like paper" headcanon which I found from some artists I very much like (Namely @the-meme-monarch on tumblr) and this design was also slightly influenced by @digitulart on tumblr who has a really unique design for Rouxls (having a scroll for a body, although mine only used that as an element of his outfit.) I'd suggest you check that artist out because I very much like this artist's Deltarune designs in general. Also the-meme-monarch!! actually just check out all the artists I mention here they're all cool. I think part of this design/vibe was also influenced on Xyliss from Candleworld, a scratch ARG story thing by klabss who I will not be @'ing because this is not candleworld related and I don't want random people finding this because they typed klabss in the search bar, but Candleworld is very cool.. This will show up anyway but like I don't care at this point. 4) Elaborating on this design. For some reason I was still feeling a little unsatisfied with it. 5) How shapeular. how shapetastic. I am more satisfied with this one, and I also like him having a more simple design it just feels right. I also like drawing him with slightly unaligned eyes which was exponentially harder to achieve with those spade eyelashes I gave him earlier, so he has simpler lashes now which I also think suits the design 6) Playing around with thiings 7-8) shaking him around in a jar 9) reference photo unfinished. There will be incredibly self indulgent headcanons later. How does he trip on something that is right behind him, I’m not sure, but if anyone can do it, rouxls can I might add later
