Here’s a breakdown on all the roles (cw three inside): UNIVERSAL ROLES (all packs have these): Alpha—The leader. The one who makes the rules. An alpha’s word is law, and you must always do what they say. If a leader is a tyrant, you must gather a group made of at least half of your pack to rebel and drive them out. The Beta will then become Alpha. (If you plan on rebelling, notify me and the Alpha OOC and tell me the wolves whom are rebelling) Beta—The second in command. Gives out the day’s jobs to each pack member. They become the alpha when the current one dies. They are normally chosen based on experience, wisdom, trust, and pack popularity. Healer—The one trained in healing (ofc). They learn the herbs of the land and use those to patch up the sick, injured, or aching. Unlike in the Warriors series, Healers are allowed to form their own families. Deadcaller—A spiritual wolf whom mainly communicates to the dead. (Think Medicine Cat in Warriors, but less knowledgeable on healing) They will receive omens and prophecies as well (by me). They sleep in the Healer’s den with them, and also have a bit of herb knowledge. Pawprint—Not its own role. Basically the mentor of their role, passing on any knowledge to the Trailer whom wants to take on their role. This excludes the Beta and Alpha roles. (Role Ex: Deadcaller Pawprint // Pupmother Pawprint) Trailer—A young wolf over 6 moon cycles, taught by their own Pawprint in the ways of the role they chose. (cw three is shimmer) Once their Pawprint is confident in their training and the wolf is at least 10 moon cycles, they will become the role they’ve trained for and be given a suffix. Pupmother—traditionally a she-wolf/feminine wolf, who stays in the nursery with the parent of the pups. When the birthparent is healed from birth, they return to their role and the Pupmother raises the pups, teaching them what they need to know during puphood. The Pupmother also names the pups a prefix. (Ex: Lark. Not Larkkit/Larkpup, as they get a suffix when they graduate from Trailerhood.) Guider—Respected, retired old wolves. They teach history, legends, and lore. They can often be talked to for guidance, whether by the alpha or just any wolf in need of it. ¸¸♬·¯·♪·¯·♫¸¸♫·¯·♪¸♩·¯·♬¸¸ Pack Specific Roles! As you may have noticed, there is no classic “warrior” type role in the universal roles. That is because every adult wolf has their own specific role they exceed in, which varies based on pack. This ensures that every wolf is an important part to the pack, and that they never feel overlooked, and also adds a great bit of lore and rp potential. (Ex: if a wolf was so amazing at their role that they exceeded everyone else, they may go down as a legend or a figure whom Trailers aspire to be.) ——— PACK AQUA Fishers—Catch fish, frogs, turtles, etc. They use stealth and speed to strike fast and catch the prey, and are great at catching mass amounts in a short period of time. Currentwatchers—Studies the tides and currents to predict floods and travel paths. These wolves have great intuition and spend their Trailer years studying the ways of the water. Reedweavers—Weave reeds, grasses, driftwood, etc. make shelter and landmark markers. Careful with detail, with nimble paws to create the best dens. Drifters—Patrollers whom know every inch of the territory and can tell when something’s missing/off. They have incredible memory and attention to detail, with sharp eyesight and noses. Songcallers—Perform history and legends through song and water tricks, perform during the Water Festival. These wolves are graceful, athletic and abstract. ——— PACK ZEPHYR Acrobats—perform aerial shows and dances during ceremonies (like when a Trailer becomes their chosen role) or the Air Show. Skycallers—six wolves whom give themselves to each pack as messengers. A Skycaller Trailer would train to fly long distances, remember messages, and carry things, and when they graduate, they move to their chosen pack for good, pledging their loyalty to said pack and becoming a messenger for that pack alone. Perchguards—Patrollers with sharp eyesight and stealthy movements, complete with incredible balance. A patrol of three could take down a male adult grizzly bear. Windwatchers—Study weather, wind patterns, and updrafts. These wolves can predict storms and major weather due to intuition and data over time. Featherbinders—Crafty, careful-pawed wolves who create adornments from feathers and bones in honor of the dead or the ancestors. CONT.
CONT. PACK WOODLAND Trackers—Experts in detail with sharp noses and eyes. They’re amazing at finding and tracking down trails of prey, intruders, or threats. If one thing is off in the territory, they’ll know. Trappers—Set traps to catch prey or intruders, whom are very crafty and quite smart. Only the most experienced Trapper’s traps will work every time, though. Shadewalkers—Camouflage specialists, who specialize in spying or ambush. They often have dark, patterned pelts to help blend in with the shadows of the forest. Denmakers—Create intricate, strong dens for the pack and secret exits, entrances, and hiding burrows in case of invasion. They have strong paws and are very strategic. ——— PACK EMBER Desertrunners—Endurant and strong but also fast wolves who can run across the desert without tiring. They help find water during heat waves. Burrowdiggers—Wolves who dig and reinforce dens, making them as cool (temperature) and strong as possible. They have strong paws and intelligence. Sandpainters—Art makers who create with sand, ash, and even blood and other desert items for ceremonies, decoration, etc. Battleminds—Strategic, smart, and strong wolves who help plan battles like invasions, threat attacks, etc. ——— PACK GLINT Frosthunters—Experts in tracking prey through snow without a sound. Stealthy, nimble, and quick. Skyseers—Wolves who work with the Deadcaller(s) in their pack about omens and signs in the northern lights and night sky. Snowbinders—Wolves whom create shelters and traps using whatever they can find around them, and are successful based on their experience. Chillcallers—Wolves with loud voices that echo throughout the tundra. In case of an emergency, they can call to a patrol outside of camp to return or warn using echoes and their loudness. Sometimes sing during ceremonies. ——— PACK HOLLOW Fogstriders—Wolves who walk through the misty forest and ravine without getting lost, whom are masters of illusion and stealth. Venomweaver—Use venom, spores, or glowing fungi in hunting and battle. Have great memory and steady paws. Glowfinders—Find glowing fungi and other glowing things that illuminate camp and the dens. Their job is never over, as the fungi and glowing bugs/plants fade over time. Suggestions, tips, etc about the roles can go in the comments!
