Here are some ideas to help you brainstorm! And these themes are most commonly found in Books, movies/series, etc. (so they are not my ideas.) Fantasy ☁ Magically teleported to a fantasy setting ☁Strange new creatures are being found... ☁They have a new super human power. ☁A prophecy or omen they have to fulfill. (Wings of Fire by Tui T. Sutherland) Sci-Fi (auto correct thinks it's wi-fi) ☉ THE ALIENS ARE COMING!! ☉ A time machine! ☉ A Civilization in space (The Wild Robot by Peter Brown) Mystery ✍A missing person mystery ✍ Mystery of a missing item ✍ Wrongly solved mystery retraced. (The Inheritance Games) Dystopia(A genre where things are exaggerated.) ☼War-Driven Place. ☼A polluted place is given to a native animal. (The Giver by Lois Lowry) Adventure ✈Searches the world to find hidden objects. ✈Goes back to the past and/or future. (Percy Jackson and The Olympians by Rick Riordan) Romance (lol) ♡Star-Crossed Lovers ♡Love triangle (dramaaa :P) ♡Doesn't know how to break up with their partner (ohhhh) ♡Too afraid to fall in love because of a broken heart. (I can't recommend any because I don't know any lol) In General: -Sworn Enemies become friends (vice versa) -Dumb mistake made when they were younger, came back to bite them. (The Secrets of Dumbledore Movie) -Lost everything/Sacrificed everything, just for it all to be nothing. -The Time Travel Paradox. (To me this just makes my brain so confused lol) (Marvels Endgame) -The world is ending (2012[and yes that's a movie]) Random ideas: -A police officer finds out one of their family/close friends are a prominent suspect. -A character has a heavy role place on them at an early age. -The character lost everything and is trying to cope. -Somehow, the character meets the younger self of their parents(who they did not get along with) and sees the better part of them. -Somehow the character finds themselves on a train with very sus people. When they pass through a tunnel, suddenly all the passengers turned into skeletons/ghosts and so did the character. _______________________________ If you want to get more inspiration, one way I like to get it is by listening to sad music or those 'I want' songs. Here are some to try: ~20 Something - SZA ~Let the world Burn - Chris Grey ~too young to be old - JAX ~God Must Hate Me- Catie Turner ~Numb Little Bug- Em Beihold -------- Sometimes I also enjoy taking inspirations for my dreams(no matter how crazy they are) by means of my own interpretations and imaginations! _______________________________ Tips: ➣ If you're unused to creating new worlds, I recommend starting with Fan-fiction to start with some foundation but still have your own room to roam. And when you get the hang of it, you can start actual building your own worlds. ➣Know your character. It'll better help you write their dialogue, movements, and thoughts. Try to make a list you would ask someone you're trying to know better, but answer it in the pov of your character. ➣When making a character, don't give them everything. Don't give them godhood level control of the universe, awesome powers, and a personality that is perfect. There needs to be some disadvantage or something they can't do for character development. ➣When writing the plot it usually domino falls in to another bad situation into another, until the characters find a way to fix it. For me I come up with 2-5 set backs or things for the character to overcome. It could be a their personality, it could be mindset, or it could be person vs. person. ➣If I'm having a hard time thinking of character traits I think of other the Wings of Fire quintet: Clay who is courageous and selfless, Tsunami who is ambitious and confident, Glory who is a total boss queen and sarcastic, Starflight who is the 'stereotypical nerd', and Sunny who is warm and kind. ➣ Sometimes to get better at describing or expanding your vocabulary, try opening a dictionary and flipping to a random page, find a random word, find it's origins/meaning, and try to use it. ➣ For those who are serious in publishing and printing a book, find some videos or books, and finding information in general to get yourself knowledgeable. Find blog or a story about someone's journey of writing a book and take note on what they might advise. _______________________________ I'm not an expert and I'm still growing myself.
