Intro (not a daily bit still included) Hello, fellow scratch writing campers. I am Juliet but I also go by Mari, I use she/her pronouns and am a teen girl in the BST timezone. In my free time I enjoy writing, mostly poetry, and at the moment I'm working on my story (in verse) I'm yet to name it but it's about the thought that everyone experiences each day differently and is set on a journey on a bus where the two main characters (Janus and Algia) are on two separate journeys for two separate reasons. I also am working on poetry writing but at the moment have nothing in progress but new ideas often spark. My bad habits in writing are I write a poem then never come back to it and loose motivation to finish anything I'm writing as well as I cannot write stories or most in standard paragraphs. So I normally write in stanzas. I also enjoy reading more than writing. I like dystopian/utopian as well as more ‘realistic’ ones. My current favourite books are ‘Where the crawdads sing’ by Delia Owens and ‘The Hunger Games’ by Suzanne Collins. I'm yet to read The ‘Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ and ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’. Linking on, I also enjoy watching movies and films to some degree. I love the Hunger games films like I love the books as well as Where the Crawdads Sing, I also am currently watching Ginny and Georgia. While I normally don't watch animations, animes or cartoons, Studio Ghibli is the singular exception with my favourites being ‘My Neighbour Totoro’. I also like listening to music, in particular MARINA, I have been listening to her properly since October of 2023 and my favourite album at the moment is The Family Jewels. I also love P.O.P and am so glad that she managed to produce her own album under her own label! I won't list all my favourite songs but I'll say one maybe two from each album + an unreleased (she's happy for her fans to listen to them so don't chase me with pitchforks). From TFJ ‘Oh no’ and ‘rootless’, from EH ‘...yeah’ from Froot- ‘Savages’, L+F- ‘Too afraid’, ADIAML- ‘Mans world’, from P.O.P ‘rollercoaster’ and ‘Final boss’. Finally my favourite unreleased is ‘Space and the Woods’. On top of Marina I listen to other artists including Lady Gaga, Florence Welch(/and the machine). I often will listen to indie rock to relax! I'm currently learning to ride a horse . My favourite lessons are Religious Education and History at school both which I plan to continue studying or some aspect of in the foreseeable future. I'm a member of GWDFI, and it's lovely to see familiar faces! I've been on scratch and using it since I was 7 but I only properly joined the community in 2022 I think, I joined GWDFI in 2023 and this will be my first full scratch camp! As one I never got an assigned place and the other I dropped out of :P. But I'm looking forward to having the full experience! If I had three wishes I'd wish for all my friends and family to have a safe future and all live our lives to the full. My second would be for everyone to have a chance at getting an education.Third would be for progressive illnesses to not progress to any severe boundary or aspect. While there's so much I would want to wish for such as to remove world hunger and conflict it would likely lead to some sort of ‘utopia’ which can only last so long. Before something happens, I would choose to wish for it but my brain has been intoxicated that it would lead to something much worse. Credits for the question to Thank you if you read this here's a cookie and I look forwards to seeing all of you around camp! It was the last day we saw Florence. It had been the day of her wedding, no one really knows what happened except that she disappeared. Florence had always been a runner both mentally and physically: running from her problems at home. She'd always say “Run till your lungs are sore, and your muscles burn.” Florence was beautiful- conventionally, her natural blonde hair, fair complexion, and perfect build was a source of envy for all those around her, even me. I'd been the last one she said goodbye to. I remember so clearly the pink and white flowers in her arms glimmering like satin in the sunrise. She'd been all made up for this wedding, her hair curled and tumbling down her back, on top of her dress which clung to her body, the dress had flowers too- identical to those she held. My sleep deprived self and only just made out the words “I must run again”. Before Florence was gone again, possibly a figment of imagination or reality or both warped together. I could imagine her in the long grass near the forests while the sun shone awaiting the vows like everyone else. But there were no vows. Florence and my secret we both knew but let the events unfold: her soon-to-be husband breaking down with his parents, the neighbours muttering it always happened and me I sat there realising it must have been true. That morning, she trusted me and now I'll never see her again. We all knew deep down this wedding would never happen, they never did with Florence after learning her past you can see why she ran. Ran from everything even from you and I. We'll never see her again but the woods know her truth which is now long since concealed in the overgrown grass. It had been me who saw her last but no one knew she ran. They think it was murder. The sunlight begins to trickle through the reed blinds leaving a pattern across the small bedroom floor. Panic begins to set in as I realise I've overslept. Quickly, I jump to the chest of draws and throw on my usual: black cargos, and a dark green cami long sleeved top. I race to the main room to get food prepared for my mother and me. Today I decided I'll use the last of the grain crackers up for breakfast and grab myself some stew from the fridge for lunch. The thermostat is warm in my satchel. As I run out of the front door, I hope that mother will make it to work on time, she leaves before me so there's no way to tell until our monthly food rations and currency come in. Muscle memory takes over as I sprint towards the school building, I take in the sights watching as birds flutter through the sky, waltzing to their destination. The footpath is hard under my feet reverberating my footstep as they silently thump down. The forest is nearby, I'm almost there. Flying down the footpath I almost miss the scream. Instinct soon takes over and I dive into the bush by the tree. Peeking through the foliage I watch, wait and spy. It could only have been a minute before the truck came. The Cloaked leader Sire Master Graven is in the passenger seat of the large camouflage print vehicle. Driving it is another Cloaked leader I assume. However it's the back that's the most concerning, the black tinted windows which I cannot see into, vibrate as if someone is whacking their hands against it. As the truck vanished I read the small text printed on it ‘passenger movement vehicle’. I know, we all know it's for those who lost their last strike. I must be over two hours late now, I'll definitely get punished so there's no point in running now. I walk through the forest listening to the birds sing gleefully, all oblivious to what's just happened. I turn left and watch as the building grows larger, the large metal gates are shut, I would jump them and I easily could but the barbed wire at the top makes an easy action risky. I do the walk of shame and buzz the intercom. As I wait for an answer I fiddle with my curled strands of hair, uncurling them and letting them bounce back. The static buzz catches me off guard, I jump as the gate opens to let me through. The events of this morning run through my head over and over again. I wonder who it was they took. The Education building is about as pretty as buildings get in this town. The logs that form it allows it to blend into the forest and match the log cabin that the caretakers sleep in. I gaze up at the three story structure and take it in yet again before I step into the reception.
