Major SPOILERS for Sonic 3! Green flag plz! Alright y'all, I have FINALLY seen it! I LOVED it, it was awesome. There were tons of Easter Eggs that I loved finding and it payed some serious respect to SA2. Quick review: 9/10 Very well done. Long-time Sonic fans will love Loved the bonds the characters share Lots of fun Easter eggs The Robotniks were a bit much at times lol.
Long review. (Alright prepare yourself.) Okay! Starting off, the movie had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning. I loved the suspense as Shadow woke up. And I totally melted when Maria started playing Live and Learn on the guitar. T-T The Team Sonic race was fun, I enjoyed hearing the winning tune from the OG game. X) I also loved watching Sonic and Tom's bond in the old cave and how that paralled to Shadow and Maria later on. <3 I also literally screamed aloud when Sonic said his line from SA2 in the GUN helicopter WORD. FOR. WORD. The fall doen to Tokyo was epic, and the first encounter with Shadow rocked. The Easter egg where Sonic falls at Shadow's feet I got right away! I love the motorcycle chase, that was so fun. (The motorcycle! Aaaa!) Seeing Sonic and Shadow banter on the big screen is a different kind of fun. Chao Garden was hilarious. I watched the movie with my mom who has no knowledge of Sonic past the movies and she was like "what the heck is this?" While I was bouncing in my seat. (I also thought it was perfect that Knuckles wore the purple chao head because in the Sonic Frontiers prologue, he interacted with that same Chao. (Yw for the nerdy detail.) Okay, I'll be honest, watching Eggman's introduction was painful. I cringed. But Team Sonic made it bearable lol. Stone also had far more of an interesting role in this movie. (*gasp* It's the goatmilker!!) And at the GUN base when Eggman and Sonic teamed up, that was fun. ("DoRKupInE? ReaLlY cLeVEr") One thing, I'm not crazy about how Gerald is portrayed in this movie. Im sorrryyy! Gerald was so much sweeter in the games, I dont like him having the same intensity as movie Eggman. Buuut, this is one of my favorite parts: Shadow and Maria's flashback. I love the way Alyla Browne portrays Maria in this movie. She's so playful and sweet, but she's also smart and adds another layer to her character. She and Shadow were more like siblings than anything here and I. Loved. it. Also at London, Sonic and Knuckles were so impatient and it was adorable. It just adds to their family aspect. X3 The Robotniks were very silly at times. I will say, the dance with the lasers went on a tad bit too long imo. I totally forgot what I was watching and when Sonic showed up I did a double take. Skipping ahead a bit *garbled dialogue* Sonic seeing Tom hit by Shadow was intense. You hardly ever see Sonic so emotional. Like ANYWHERE. That is literally a Sega mandate that Sonic can't cry or show too much emotion and it's super annoying. So this was interesting. Next! Shadow's specific flashback to when he lost Maria really showed the emotion he felt, and his change from sadness to resentment. (Tears were shed during this scene) The fight between Sonic and Shadow when they were super was incredible. Visually captivating, emotionally packed. The moon talk was amazing, it really captured a lot. And theeen, THEY PLAYED LIVE AND LEARN BRO!! I just can't-- I was bouncing up and down. I do not have the words it was awesome. It's sad that we got to see them working together for such little time. But no doubt Shadow with be in the next movie with the end credits characters!!! Looks like Fowler's doing a Sonic CD situation with Amy and Metal and I think it's gonna be awesome. There are also rumours that the movie will have time-travel elements and I swear-- If Silver does not show up in that movie I'm gonna lose it. That's all! My fingers hurt now. I am definitely gonna start working on fanart now! Credits *** Me (project, character: Lila) Sega (franchise, characters, Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, Tails, Robotniks) Jeff Fowler (director: Sonic 3)
