The Cäuul, or Calliovenator montium [Crafty Hunter of the Highlands] are an offshoot of the dangerous Inimivenator [Ruthless Hunter] family, the superpredators of their planet. They retain some of the abilities that makes the Inimivenator family so powerful, such as the limited ability to sense the buildup of electricity in muscles with the ultrasensitive organs on their side jaws, which allows them to predict where their prey is going to move before they move there. The Cäuul live on a Jovian moon orbiting the fourth planet in their system. The land is primarily dominated by blue flora and massive colonial organic mats descended from algae analogs. Starting off as superpredators, the Cäuul were isolated on an island chain where they grew smaller due to island dwarfism. The presence of large flying predators not too dissimilar from the extinct earth predator Hatzegopteryx forced them to become even smaller and more clever. With the eventual reconnecting of their island onto the main supercontinent and the discovery of weaponry and fire, their takeover was inevitable. Currently the Cäuul are a type 1 civilization that takes great measures to protect their natural ecosystem and grazing grounds for their prey.
