Okay. I expected a surprise by Nico, Kayla and Austin. At least Nico. When I woke up in the morning, The Apollo cabin didn’t give me a birthday surprise. They sat up in their beds, frowning and staring at the ground with worry in their eyes. They still chattered but it was a quiet mutter. “Where is he?” “I’m worried…” “Is he okay?” “What’s Will going to do when he finds out?” “When I find out what?” I asked, startling everyone. “Will… you're awake…” Kayla’s voice trembled with worry and Austin paced behind her. “Happy birthday.” “No, what's going on?” I protested. Everyone looked at eachother, then me. “Well…” it was Austin who spoke. “Apparently, last night… around… midnight… Nico…” My heart dropped. What happened to Nico? “He apparently went missing from his cabin at midnight… people have tried to send Iris messages to him but they won't work… they’ve tried every possible location… if he doesn’t come back by noon then…” “We need to go looking!” I quickly stepped out of my bed. “Will…” Gracie spoke. “I know you're worried but…” “Worried?!” I snapped. “I’m not worried! I’m terrified!” It was unlike me. But I was terrified. What if something happened to Nico? When I saw Gracie’s guilty face I felt bad. “Sorry… that was unlike me I just…” “Snapped,” Yan said. “I get it. Your worry–fine, terrified about Nico. That doesn’t sound right when you use it in a sentence.” I sat back down. “I need to get changed then… then I’ll talk to Chiron.” I grabbed my clothes and went straight to the bathroom.
