Today's band of the day is Pantera. This band is another one of my favorite bands! PANTERA IS AWESOME! Pantera is a Heavy Metal band from Arlington, Texas. At first Pantera was more of a Glam Metal band but, eventually their sound became heavier. Their album "Power Metal" was more of a Thrash/Glam Metal album. It also was heavier then all their other Glam oriented releases. Then Pantera's 1990 release "Cowboy's From Hell" showed the band taking a turn from their Glam Metal sound to a heavier sound that was consistent in the rest of their records. Pantera released nine full-length albums. Unfortunately they broke up after their last album "Reinventing the Steel." Also, unfortunately, Dimebag Darrell was murdered on-stage on Dec. 8, 2004. Members: Phil Anselmo (vocals) Dimebag Darrell (guitar) (Fact: Dime was known as Diamond Darrell up to the "Cowboys From Hell" record. His name is listed as Diamond Darrell on the Cowboys record.) Rex Brown (bass) Vinnie Paul (drums) Former Members: Terry Glaze Albums: "Metal Magic" (1983) "Projects in the Jungle" (1984) "I Am The Night" (1985) "Power Metal" (1988) "Cowboys From Hell" (1990) "Vulgar Display of Power" (1992) "Far Beyond Driven" (1994) "The Great Southern Treadkill" (1996) "Reinveting the Steel" (2000) The song playing in the background is "Mouth for War" from Pantera's 1992 album "Vulgar Display of Power." (I highly recommend this Pantera album. It is AWESOME!)
