Sagepaw walked through the forest. She was a ThunderClan apprentice, but had started to feel a bit… detached from her Clan. She had wandered more, been in camp less often, and been distant with her clanmates. But why? She’d always been a loyal clan cat… maybe not. She remembered her fascination with loners and rogues from as a kit, and her lack of hesitation in joining border patrols compared to hunting patrols… well, maybe she wasn’t so loyal. Sagepaw considered this. She’d need more time to make her choice. Unluckily, she didn’t have time. As she was thinking, she didn’t notice a strange scent behind her. Its tail swished, and its paws snapped a twig. Sagepaw whirled around, and came face to face with a fox! Barely a thought later, it all went dark. Sagepaw awoke in a starry field. Starlight glimmered down on pale summer grass, and the sky was a deep purple. “Am I in… StarClan?” “Yes.” Said a voice from behind her. She turned to look. A cat with stars in its fur had padded up to her, its expression grave. “Does that mean I’m d3ad?” “Yes.” Sagepaw’s eyes widened. She’d had her whole life ahead of her! She was about to leave to become a loner… “Is-” she squeaked, her voice trembling, “is there any way?…” she trailed off. “Yes.” Sagepaw’s ears perked up. That wasn’t what she’d expected! “How?” “Well,” the cat explained, “you just need to dive to the bottom of this pool! StarClan insists that you have another chance at life. Another chance to be free.” “Thank you.” Sagepaw dove into the pool. She reached the bottom. Was it a trick? No, it couldn’t be! She pushed through, and started falling… And falling… And falling… Then, she hit the ground. She opened her eyes. It looked like… like life. “Am I alive?” “I think so?” Came the amused meow of another cat. Sagepaw looked up. A light brown she-cat stood above her. “Hello?” Sagepaw asked, “who are you?” “I’m Grain.” “Nice to meet you, Grain. I’m… Sage. I’m Sage.” "Nice to meet you too, Sage." Sagepaw- no, just Sage- stumbled up onto her paws. "Um... where are we?" "Wow, you don't know? You're at the Cave of Memory. How did you get here?" "I don't know! One second, there was a fox! The next second, I was in StarClan! And now, I'm here! I just wanted to leave my Clan to become a loner! I didn't expect to di3!” “Whoa, that’s a lot of information all of a sudden.” “Yes, well, it’s true.” “So you’re saying, you got reincarnated?” “Sort of? More like, resurrected. I mean, I’m still in the same body, I’m still as young as before, and I still have all of my memories.” “Alright, so you literally came back to life. And got teleported here.” “Yes.” “Well then, Sage, since you’ll likely be staying-” “Of course I will!” “-then how about I show you around?” Sage beamed. “That sounds great!” She had finally done it, though maybe not in the most practical way. She was going to live here for the rest of her life, with her new friend, and maybe, maybe this time, her life would go her way…
