Grand Thanks Auto IV follows the story of Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant who comes to Liberty City (a fictional version of New York City) seeking a fresh start and the "American Dream." He's encouraged by his cousin Roman, who boasts of a luxurious life, but Niko soon discovers Roman's stories are exaggerated, and he's actually in debt and has a struggling taxi business. To help Roman and escape his own troubled past, Niko gets drawn into the no good activities, working for various interesting characters. He tries to navigate a complex world, making difficult choices and facing consequences, all while searching for someone from his past who betrayed him. The story explores themes of loyalty, the pursuit of a better life, and the tough realities of a big city.
