art piece for the lovely @MCAT_Wendigo's poem!! Go follow him (and see his other works :D) The only thing that is mine is the art, background is a photo of a birdcage, with words from the poem (by @MCAT_Wendigo) below. - - - - - - - In her pearly eyes There was a vengeance That burned with flaming light The whispers in her soul Through the marrow of her hollow bones She longed for what was right She waited for eternities Locked inside his ivory cage Her white lips pictured a faithless smile For he had betrayed her trust He had cut her wings She will survive by her guile Rara Avis She was beautiful In this life she was alone With his crafty words and promises He had deceived her And now he sat upon his throne Her mind fueled her fury With memories alone He dragged her from the skies When she had stepped to close In the depths of her despair She promised he would pay for his lies He didn't know of her talons And how they replaced her soul Her very heart had turned so cold She knew it was made of stone Her moment would soon find her And her reprisal he'd behold Rara Avis Who'd have thought it would come to this? His horror was her victory On her white lips she cried For malevolence His suffering was her liberty Rara Avis Rara Avis This was what was right Her feathers were painted rose Her freedom was his agony In her darkness was the light
reading the poem, i knew that the metaphor was a bird, but took my own spin on it as it reminds me of irish folk song "the willow maid" by erutan, which follows an irish man who tries to capture a fae to be his wife, resulting in her death, and reminding the listener to remember what is the forest's, and what is ours. beautiful poem <3
