I would like to address my issues and concerns with AI “art” As someone who loves art in all forms, drawing, painting, writing, singing, and more. I would hate to see all of that creativity go, as a matter of fact I think without art I would not be able to survive in this world. It is the sole thing that brings me joy, and I am sad to admit that it might be leaving sooner than I thought, in the near future. Now let me clarify, I do not hate AI as a whole, I feel that if it were to be developed and used for good it could be a helper to many. It is in fact helpful sometimes, but not in the art community. As more generative art engines are coming out, real artists are being shamed and not recognized for the work they put in. People are losing their jobs and many are givng up their dreams of creativity because they recieve a lot of backlash. Because of course when a machine can replace what you do, who needs you? And I want people to know, no matter what level of art you do. Your art deserves to be acknowledged, it is something you created putting your heart into. Something you are proud of. Something that should be given credit to. Now, that brings me to another point, people are not being given credit. You see, when you train an ai model, it does not give credit to all the work it is fed. While most big creators can catch onto that and either sue a company or yadada to take legal action, small creators can’t. If you are 16 and post a creation that is fed into an ai model run by a big company, do you in any way think you will be able to take legal action? Your art can be stolen by an ai company, and yes, this IS stealing.Remember how I said AI can be used for good? I still agree with that. But here’s the catch: you can’t control what people use it for. If you make a big ai model, like chat GPT for instance, it can still be used for very bad things. You can’t control what people use these things for, and from what I’m seeing most people use it for bad. I once saw a post once that Elon Musk had made the first flying car, then I looked close at it and realized it was obviously ai and not real. But people of older age would probably fall for this because sometimes they can’t tell what is real and what’s not, as an artist my eyes have been specially trained to immediately recognize ai art or writing or music, but not everyone is like me.My final statement is that it’s not even real art. Art by definition is, “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.” You see how it says HUMAN? Art is created from a human imaginative mind, ai “art” can not be like that at all, it’s souless and created by a machine. Every time I make a drawing, or write a piece of my stories, I feel so proud and happy. That I was able to make something as beautiful as the thing I just created, even if others think little of it. There is no word to express how much I love all my characters, knowing that I a mere child as some would say was able to make a whole world from my head. Can AI feel as proud as I can or feel my joy from that? Look, I know that everyone wants cheap stuff and fast things, but surely you can look past that and feel for us artists.
Oh, and one final thing. Can we sign a petition or something or start an uproar? Protests perhaps? Anything to stop corporations from taking away our joy and creativity? Please, I am afraid that if art disappears from this planet I might actually spontaneously combust. Also if I were to make a business I would make it a safe haven for artists, and I would use it as a sole purposeto help others find jobs. Because it’s not about money, it’s about making the world a better place! OK THE END OF MY RANT LOL AAAA
