I don’t usually draw specific breeds so I decided to give it a try, I thought it would be fun if you guys try to guess the breed. This took roughly 2 and a half hrs. NOTE: don’t mind the part where it looks like a vid, iArtbook makes Time-lapses and I was screenshotting cause I’m lazy. So I’m kinda just gonna narrate this so read this before ig? Idk figure it out. I was having so much trouble drawing the face of this horse- for some reason I just could not do it, I had to get a ref and try like a million times and eventually I got it right enough that I could move on. Then I also couldn’t draw a leg(???) I think it’s been too long since I drew a horse. I sketched the rest of the body and then had to do two MORE legs which went equally bad, but if I showed you all the ways it went wrong we would be here for a long time. Then once I FINALLY drew legs I outlined my sketch so it would be more clean. (Pink square = ref) I wanted to try a new way of coloring so I could do more shading bec my ref was rlly pretty (spoiler: it didn’t go great) I added a base color, drew on highlights and lowlights, then I blended it. I did that a couple times and had to double it so the color would be even. Then I used a backdrop to see where the left over pixels were and erased them. (Not shown: I colored ears, eyes, main and tail, and hooves) then I imported a plaid pattern cause I’m not drawing that. I added finishing details to the blanket and looked up a picture of a halter to copy and I really like it.
