the little girl gazed into the distance, her fingers softly brushing the grass a question spoke from her lips, "will we ever be able to fly, dancing in the sky?" it was responded with a light chuckle “be patient little one,” a motherly voice answered “for if you set your mind to it, then surely it would come true.” and so, the child dreamed for it she waited patiently, often found praying to the heavens or twirling in a ring of feathers hoping her wish were to be granted as she got older, her childish ways began to fade along with her dream accepting her fate on the floor, instead hoping for realistic things though it may be forgotten, the goal from her youth never went away just took some time to come back memories and hopes never fade and so, one day it reappeared the now grown child visited her mother staying at her side, as she struggled scared of losing her from her grasp but it was already too late no hospital could help her the somber day came too fast the woman’s parent left the world quickly and quietly she slipped away but before doing that, she left a purpose a plan for her grieving daughter “go, as you did before, wish upon a star and twirl in the meadow” she commanded hoarsely “let my death not be in vain, but instead a reminder to pursue your dream” “make me proud as I watch from above, as you soar with great wings” a tear slipped down her face "go, my precious, and make me proud..." the dying parent said with a final squeeze and so, since that day the determined damsel began her journey bringing back the rituals and ceremonies prayer and songs lasted throughout the nights hoping to make her late mother proud slowly over time, the dream was also brought back not just for the memory of her parent but for herself as well she began hoping to someday rise to the sky months flew by, and she still persisted exploring books of old to do the impossible winter came around, a hopeless feeling settled in she wanted to quit, to stop but as she continued searching her old diary edged into the corner of her eye reading it, she discovered many things most importantly she remembered why why she wanted to fly she wanted to free herself from the world she felt chained to the lonely Earth to venture out there without anything dragging her down those feelings were still there they had been muted by errands blended into the background but now she felt it again the longing for freedom to venture out, without attachment she continued her routine however it was filled with different emotion not just grief, or something to get over with but the urge to take to the air she sang louder, wished repeatedly the week continued on, and the lady was filled with hope during the day she would dance under the sun at night she would whisper to the stars waiting patiently, yet steadfast then, on one particular sunny day, everything happened she was filled with excitement in the morning as if knowing something was to happen yet she didn't at the same time instead of singing the same hymns or whispering the same murmurs she did something different instead of begging, pleading she commanded, no, summoned it at the final note of a new song, it happened wind quickly rushed at her as fast as it happened, it was gone but now, something was different there was a weight on her back in that moment, she realized what took place it was not the burden of desire anymore, it was the large wings placed on her spine flapping them, she stared at them then, she did the seemingly impossible launching herself off the grass, she took to the sky dancing, twirling, flying in the sky weaving in between clouds the sun shone beautifully on her white feathers a breeze seemed to wrap around her as if her mom was there in the moment she smiled happily to herself no longer was she tethered to the ground but whisked away to the sky everyone watched her in awe, how she escaped the grasp of the fields and soared to the heavens above she became known, made her name "the girl who touched the sky"
