₊˚✩Ferin✩˚₊ ---Personality--- Ferin is an assiduous Zorua-Umbreon hybrid who prefers to play the long game when it comes to Light Pokémon- she tends to embed herself in the friendship circles of Light 'Mon, hoping to glean information regarding the keys from within, rather than terrorising it out of others directly. Similarly, she also uses a faux geniality to try to tease out information on any Light Pokémon movements which could potentially challenge the Dark Realm, and their general opinions on Dark Pokémon. Ruthless and sadistic, she is also incredibly hard-working and dedicated to becoming stronger and more powerful, and may spend long lengths of time training for this, with little regard for her own safety or health. Ferin is a pretty patient Pokémon, but a frustration of her own shortcomigs often wears her temper thin. Regardless, her ability to stay reasonably calm means she can navigate tricky situations well and allows her to think quickly and analytically, even in the heat of battle. ---Bio (and any additional information)--- Ferin's excessively spiteful mannerisms towards Light Pokémon can be partially traced back to the loss of her older sister at a young age to Light Pokémon in a battle. Ferin herself was not present, but the stories she was told later by other Dark Pokémon who had borne witness to the scene only fuelled her loathing for the Light Realm. She will scarcely run from a fight, even when her life is at risk or in danger of serious injury. Looking back, she realises these tales were probably exaggerated, but she is driven to exact her revenge on Light Pokémon nonetheless. Ferin, though she prefers to be alone, occasionally creates illusions of other Pokémon- usually to make herself seem more intimidating and to avoid a fight she feels she cannot win. She may also use these as a threat to achieve her own ends, but these illusions can generally only be used in darkened alleyways, as, if sustained, it becomes apparent that the Pokémon aren't really there- they'll flicker and faze in and out of existence, usually if Ferin is scared or is not concentrating fully on maintaining the illusion Pokémon. Ferin tends to use two illusion Pokémon in particular, to the extent where she has named them both- 'Void', an Umbreon with no rings (mainly because she finds it hard to maintain the patterns on Void's body) and 'Cyruss', a Dartrix (whose appearance is based on a Dartrix she is familiar with). These two illusions appear with greater clarity than the others as Ferin is used to projecting their images. Due to being part-Umbreon, Ferin secretes a poisonous sweat from her paw pads, similar to the one Umbreon's pores exude, when she feels threatened or angry. This is a very mild poison, however, and the most effect it has is causing plants to wither if she stands on them, or a slight stinging sensation in another pokémon if they touch her. Ferin is in some control of her bioluminescence, and can dim the glow in the dark if she needs to, though not cut it out completely. The markings may also glow fiercely when she is in or preparing for battle. Due to being part-Zorua, Ferin is also able to mimic the appearances of other pokémon. However, her markings remain on her fur, regardless of what form she assumes. ---Design Notes--- Ferin's markings are broken due to an unusual interaction between the Umbreon and Zorua genes that meant the ring shapes did not fully form. I haven't provided a map of how each marking looks because I'm not too fussed about how each is drawn- as long as the markings seem broken. Notably, there is a crescent shaped marking across Ferin's snout visible in the bio that is symmetrical on the other side. Ferin doesn't have a ring marking on her head as an Umbreon does, but all the blue fur she has glows like Umbreons' rings do. • Additional Notes • Ferin's name is derived from luciferin, an organic compound that can cause bioluminescence in an organism (such as foxfire) when oxidised. This is somewhat resemblant to Ferin's bioluminescent markings. Foxfire, incidentally, is also poisonous, similar to the way Ferin's paw pads secrete a very mild poison (see bio).
