After sleeping on it, June’s Mom decided to apologize in the morning. When she did, June said, “It’s ok.”, and gave her a hug. Her Mom’s reply was, “I get how you have those feelings. I was sad when he left, too, and you’re little, so imagine how you feel. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have reacted that way.”. June’s reply was nice and soft, only asking a question, “Why… did Dad leave?”. Her Mom sighed and replied with a very serious, yet gentle, tone, “During Picture Day, when your father was little, people would make fun of his photo. Every single year. Apparently, during our last argument, I brought back old memories, I brought back the pain, but even worse. I really did nothing wrong, but that sentence hurt me, he wronged me. So, he left and never came back. Last year, when it was your Picture Day, he came to your school, and explained the story very different, and made me the person in the wrong. Which is why I was angry when you were sad because he left. You hated Picture Day just because others would bully your father, and that was also the day that you learned the ‘terrible truth’ about me, more like the terrible lie. Anyways, you shouldn’t be upset over that, because he wasn’t upset over you. In fact, when he left, he didn’t say goodbye to you guys, when I reminded him, he just left and shrugged his shoulders. And you guys were just cute, tiny, little babies. Now do you get why you shouldn’t be upset?”. June was in shock, her hand over her mouth, barely uttering a word. That’s how anyone would react, right? They just learned their father didn’t care about them, let alone say goodbye to them. After a short while, June said, “Yes, now I get why. And… I’m not upset anymore. Thank you, Mom.”. June slowly went in for another hug, and her mom happily gave her a hug back. At school, they gave out the pictures to the students, June’s was amazing, outstanding, and unbelievable, since she got a retake, and now she doesn’t hate Picture Day. Lunchtime, yay! June sat with Ryan, and June was way happier and cheerful than yesterday. June explained everything to Ryan, her trusted friend. But was she really trusted? Ryan nodded, and changed the subject. June was surprised, it was unlike Ryan. Ryan always had something to say, but today she didn’t. June took a deep breath and asked, “Ryan, are you ok?”, Ryan nodded and looked down. June tilted her head, and eventually said, “Ok, if you say so. Just know that I’m always there for you, and you can tell me anything.”. Ryan said, “I feel bad for you, you always have family drama. And you’re my best friend, I feel like I do nothing about it, even when I’m cheerful, you’re sad. It’s not fair the way you get treated and no one’s there to help. I wish I could see your smile last a week.”. June smiled, not because she went through all that drama, but because her best friend was worried about her. So, June replied with the happiest tone ever, “I’m fine. *giggles* I do go through all that, but it’s fine, really. And I’m fine. I’m just happy someone sees it, and cares about me. I do have someone to help, wanna know who that is?”. “Who?” says Ryan. “You.” replies June, with a bright smile. They give each other a cute hug, and go back to class. “June was on fire today at school! Answering every question right, never wasting time, working her hardest and smartest, never giving up, and going through it with a positive mindset. Your daughter is a role model of hard work, determination, and perseverance. You raised her well, and you should be proud. I even heard from her siblings’ teachers that her siblings are doing amazing, too. I hope you have a good day, since your children gave us a good day.” said June’s teacher to her Mom. Her Mom smiled, and they go home. June tells her Mom all about her day. When June’s siblings ask, “How did she have a good day? She’s like, super upset about the Dad thing. Didn’t he, idk, not say goodbye to us? I mean, we don’t care much of it, which is why we always have a good day, but June, I mean…”. June’s Mom winked and said “Oh, nothing.”. Janette, July, and Jamal don’t love June. Never have, never will. Very sad honestly, and their Mom doesn’t even know. I mean, the only kinda supportive one is July, which makes sense since they’re twins. One time, Janette and Jamal put spiders and pie in June’s box full of toys. They were POISONOUS!!! July wasn’t in on it, though. When June opened it to go play with her toys, pie sprang out and went on her face. Ok, that was a harmless prank. But June couldn’t see, so when the spiders went on her, she couldn’t do anything. One by one, some of the spiders managed to bite her before she wiped the pie off. By ‘some’, I mean a lot! So, ergh, she was in the hospital. July was the only one that visited her and cared for her. Her siblings, other than July, really don’t love her. Why? Well, they’re jealous. But can that change? Can there ever be a day where June’s siblings love her? Well, there was a day June thought they did.
