Ozzy Osbourne, born John Michael Osbourne, is an English singer, songwriter, and television personality who rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath. He's often called the "Godfather of Metal" due to his influential role in shaping the genre. After being fired from Black Sabbath in 1979 due to substance abuse, he launched a successful solo career, releasing albums like Blizzard of Ozz. He also gained further fame in the 2000s through the reality TV show The Osbournes. Early Life and Black Sabbath: Born December 3, 1948, in Birmingham, England. Formed Black Sabbath with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward in 1968. Black Sabbath pioneered heavy metal with albums like Black Sabbath, Paranoid, and Master of Reality. Ozzy's unique vocals and stage persona contributed to the band's iconic status. He was fired from Black Sabbath in 1979 due to struggles with drugs and alcohol. Solo Career: Launched a successful solo career with Blizzard of Ozz in 1980, featuring guitarist Randy Rhoads. Continued to release albums throughout the 80s and 90s, including Diary of a Madman, Bark at the Moon, and No More Tears. Has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, including his work with Black Sabbath. Later Career and "The Osbournes": In the early 2000s, Ozzy, Sharon, and their children Kelly and Jack starred in the reality TV show The Osbournes, which offered a glimpse into their chaotic family life. In 2023, he canceled upcoming concerts due to health issues related to a spinal injury.
