The Bao-Dai is one of a fleet of 32 Equinox Class UCCL [Ultra Large Crude Carrier] Oil tankers operated by YangChang Energy. They are the largest Man-made Vehicles on earth and are purpose built for the Shipping of Crude Oil from UIS offshore Oil Fields to Various Refineries across Scratchia. The Vessels are Tri-Max Certified, which allows them to transit into the 3 largest Ports in the UIS under full load, and Transit the top 20 largest ports when below half load. UIS built vessels sport many differences from foreign built vessels, using a different design standard. This is very much reflected in the Bao-Dai's construction. She is fitted with a dual propulsion powertrain, instead of the more common single design, as redundancy is a crucial requirement when building a vessel in the UIS, due to the frequent weather fronts seen across the Home Islands. Bao-Dai is also completely watertight, and is built with reserve buoyancy below the waterline should a rough storm cause her to need to break larger waves or allow her to stay off the ground should she run aground. Bao-Dai's restricted ability to manoeuvre also requires her to be built with a double hull construction, which further safeguards the environment should she or her sister ships be damaged below the water line. Bao-Dai also contains a small fuel refinery plant, which allows her to refine small quantities of crude into fuel, allowing her to always have a redundant fuel system; this system, coupled with a dual setup of V-MAX Multi-Grade Engines allows her to burn a wide array of commercially available fuels of differing qualities and flammabilities, from any fuel as light as marine diesel to heavier fuels like Fuel oil and some of the shorter bitumen chains. Bao Dai does however require a fuel reserve of various fractions of petroleum that are mixed into the fuel mixture to maintain a more consistent blend. Bao-Dai also sports a mid length crane, along with a helipad. These regulations do cause construction costs to rise, however it means that UIS vessels are much better suited to military needs should they be required, and also last much longer, typically around the 35 to 50 year mark in some vessels. Bao-Dai was the first of her class, and was Commissioned in 1966, designed in 1974, Her keel laid in 1988 with construction lasting 10 years. Her relatively slow development was streamlined down to a 3 year process. Currently a Fleet of 32 operate across the globe, however are limited by their sheer size and limited docking availability, with ship to ship refuelling essentially required by most countries. This does limit vessels of the class, however the cost of moving 4.1 million barrels of fuel is so cheap and economically viable for Shanchang that any extra costs of moving the vessels is assumed to be negated.
