Full Title: paper mario retrospective by a mother fan music: Various by Nintendo Team in the Paper Mario games Paper Mario is just a weird series in general. With the first game (Paper Mario) intended as a Super Mario RPG sequel being changed to "Paper Mario" in the US, it...was weird to see. But it's fun. 64 I first played PM64 on my emulator during covid. It was really fun! Sadly, my save data got deleted before chapter 2. shucks... But safe to say, the game is great. The story is a BIT generic with the Bowser kidnapped Peach scenario, but other than that, the game is really good. The characters are just so unique and they are in a special place in my heart. the references are cool too. the battle system is a bit repetitive, but the game is still fun with the action commands. a great game (that i haven't beat yet.) 8/10. (as of this release date, i have started a new save! wish me luck!) TTYD This one I've mostly heard about and barely played. which is a shame, since i've heard great things about this game. they take the original and make everything better. the remake also exists but i already have a ROM thanks to an old friend of mine who had the original GC version. might play after 64 though, so wish me luck! 10/10 SPM this one i HAVE played up till about chapter 3-4? (i think) i had it on my old wii u and it was fun. i never really understood the controls as a kid, tho. the game is still pretty fun. the character designs are on-point, but, honestly, the gameplay seems like a normal mario game. the 2D-3D mechanic was cool but i was playing 3d world by then. 7/10. PMSS Haven't played. But heard TERRIBLE things about it. PMCS Surprisingly haven't played. I HAVE seen it before on shelves but I guess I didn't buy it. Seems okay, I guess? PMOK okay, this is one i have and have beaten. this game is actually really fun. the only bad thing i would say is how bland the characters are. "oh look, origami shy guy! so original!" I really like the battle mechanics tho. it's like a mix between the original/ttyd and something else. 7/10. talk in the comments if i should do more retrospectives (this one was kinda rushed.) (extra: i use RetroArch for PM64, and Dolphin for TTYD and SPM.)
