he is a God created by God but he was rejected symbolized by the X on his chest, he was sent to the void to never return, but he broke out, he was a childish God, that's part of the reason he was thrown away, so cause his childish tendencies he gave himself a cartoonish appearance, and as he aged he learned to use this to his advantage to lure young souls in to consume them so he doesn't die from the lack of sustenance from the void.
