Episode 9: “Steel and Shadow” ⸻ FADE IN: INT. ACCORD ARMORY – DEEP VAULTS – NIGHT Rows of shadowed droids hum in silence — claws folded, eyes dark. Above them, light flickers. A sealed chamber slides open. BEMEEBETH walks through the center of the hangar, flanked by Jeeode and Rebro. From the center: a hiss of steam. And then — HUMBUG steps forward. Now fully mechanical. His wings gleam with razor feathers. One eye glows red. A rasping voice speaks. HUMBUG: Where is she? BEMEEBETH: Pentumbra. You will erase her. Completely. JEEODE (correcting): Him. BEMEEBETH (calm): She. He. The traitor dies. Humbug nods once. Turns. Behind him, the droid army activates — a synchronized wave of mechanical breath. ⸻ EXT. VOLCANIC CANYON – FIRE OASIS – DAY PENTUMBRA walks a lonely path between cracked ridges of cooled lava. He stops. A sound — like clockwork thunder. From the ridge above — a thousand eyes glow red. HUMBUG (V.O., amplified): Pentumbra… Pentumbra lifts his head slowly. No fear. PENTUMBRA (quiet): So they sent the broken one. ⸻ INTENSE BATTLE SEQUENCE Droids swarm down the cliffs. Blasters and talons erupt. Pentumbra throws up a wall of pure Void — it rips into their ranks. He fights alone, surrounded. He lifts a droid with one hand and crushes it mid-air. Another he disintegrates with a pulse wave. One explodes near him — fire consumes his arm for a moment — he shouts but does not fall. The battle goes on for minutes — violent, chaotic, elegant. ⸻ EXT. FIRE OASIS – CLIFFS – LATER Charred droid parts litter the landscape. Smoke rises like incense. Pentumbra, bleeding from the shoulder, steps over broken metal. Then — a flicker behind him. HUMBUG, damaged but still standing, limps from the shadows. PENTUMBRA: You missed your chance. HUMBUG (rasping): I didn’t come for a chance. I came for a message. He unfurls his metal wings and blasts backward — jetting up the cliffside, vanishing into the haze. Pentumbra stands, breathing hard. Alone again. ⸻ INT. ACCORD WAR CHAMBER – NIGHT Bemeebeth listens as static fills the air. JEEODE: The droids are gone. Humbug didn’t report. REBRO: Then we failed. BEMEEBETH: No. We tested his limits. Next time, we break them. ⸻ INT. REBEL CAVERN – FIRE OASIS – LATER THAT NIGHT Buzzinga and Hyehehe arrive to find Pentumbra resting against the canyon wall. BUZZINGA: You look like rubble. PENTUMBRA: You should see the other thousand. They sit in silence. HYEHEHE: They won’t stop. Not until we fall. PENTUMBRA: Then don’t fall. Burn. ⸻ FADE TO BLACK.
