In the beginning it was soft. Nothing could harm her. She had only just come into existence, and the world was young- as young as her. beautiful sunsets painted the horizon shades of peach and midnight, setting fires in her eyes. she crossed rivers and trekked forests exploring the area, learning new things with every step. The world was quiet around her. She didn’t know the danger. She came to a hill and saw one of the world’s sunsets. Her breath hitched, her eyes felt like they were burning, and for the first time she felt the true power of the world. It made her feel alive, and something inside her was set ablaze like the sky. That night it grew and grew until she could no longer contain it. She needed to understand that feeling, needed to know what this world really was. Days and nights pass. The world seemed to change after that sunset. She saw shadows now instead of just light, but loved all of it. Creatures showed themselves to her in the forests and her dreams, and she named them and met them. The day she saw lights in the distance made her feel close to the same as that intense feeling of when she came alive. She traveled, and at some point reached a valley with two towers- and met with not just creatures- but people. Real people. She spoke with them and they named her. Then she met the king. The sight of the king made her feel uneasy, but the king was kind and brought her to a library. The king reassured her that it was safe, and then left her down there. But she wasn’t afraid. She felt that feeling again, felt alive again, as she turned the old pages of each book. She made music and learned colors she had never seen before and saw things she couldn’t even dream of knowing. After years of spending her time in the library she started to realize things. The books kept coming, in a never ending wave, and always looked as if they had been there the whole time. They would appear in disorganized shelves anywhere and everywhere, and she read every single one of them indiscriminately. Then she began to pull creatures out of the books. They started as wisps of light and she named them and spoke with them. They would always leave, but she never forgot. She would reminisce about her old memories from when she hadn't known of the library, and constantly thought of the feeling of that sunset, Sometimes it faded, but it would come back in fragments- fire. Light. A burning sensation that made her feel alive. Some of the creatures thought she was overstating that memory, but she would always wave it off. She would not, or perhaps she felt she could not, overstate the moment when she realized how big the world was. The creatures changed with her, sometimes animals, sometimes replications of the people she had met at that tower, and they were always coming and going. But she didn’t mind- their books were appearing as well in the never ending expanse of the library. One day, she stumbled upon a large red book and found it held records of all those people at the tower. She read through it, finding it constantly changing and updating itself. She sat there reading it for weeks before realizing a deadly truth about them. A deadly truth- and a terrible fate: she had to leave the library. It had been so long since she had been out of the library. How could she leave now? But she had to. She knew the danger. She knew the truth and hard reality of the world. Now she had to do something about it.
A new persona that you've probably seen by now is Willow! she'll be referred to as many different names throughout her existence, but I believe I've settled on Willow. Moving on, you get no context for the rest of the art. It'd be fun to see your reactions and theories, but really I am just giving you breadcrumbs of the bigger picture that is my world, haha. I hope you had fun reading through this. I originally decided that I wasn't going to share it, that I would keep it secret as a reference for myself, but now that I kind of don't have content at the ready it'd be easier for me to just share this now. All the art (and the story too) is old but still somewhat enjoyable?? and most of it is relevant to the lore, so idk. I'm actually really interested to see what you guys think of this. Have fun ig :) (btw all art and characters and story is by me, though I did use a template for #8 , and the words on #7 are lyrics from Billie Eilish's "listen before i go" ^^)
