When I made Girls Who Don’t Fit In, it was a studio on a kid’s coding site called Scratch, with the purpose of bringing together girls who otherwise felt alone. It was a community of individuals who found comfort in each other’s care and presence, and as far as I can tell, it has helped many children through difficult parts of their lives. However, as the studio has grown, the people and content on it have changed and shifted from the original goal. Children have been exposed to things they should not have been, and that is unacceptable. The managers and well-meaning curators of the studio have attempted to hold the community together through more rigorous rules and regulations. The countdown and timeout system have been in place for over a year now, yet these issues have only gotten worse. I don’t believe that these issues can be solved with better management, and I don’t believe that to be the fault of the management team, whether current or past. I have been dedicated to this studio’s wellbeing and protection for over six years now. My goal is to keep those on the studio safe from any harm they could be exposed to there. I have concluded that the best way to do this is to close the studio. This closure is technically indefinite, as there is a possibility that it may reopen. However, much time must pass and many conditions must be met before that is possible. The studio will be closing on August 2nd at 8:30 PM, EST. Thank you. - Daisy A note for the Scratch Team: I have enjoyed working with you through the studio’s active years, and would like to continue the cooperation now that it has closed. This project may be mass reported, but I trust that you understand it is an important announcement and will leave it up. If wording or something stated in the description bothers you, you have full permission to edit it to suit your liking. Thank you for everything you've done over the years :)
