A system or also known as a plural person is a body with two or more People / Identities in it. Common terminology / Words to know. Alter / Headmate A alter is a identity or person in a system. A headmate is someone you share a body with. Fronting This is when a Alter is in control of the body, Multiple alters can be in control at once, also known as co-fronting. Host A host is a alter who regularly fronts through out the day. This often gets misconcepted with the Core which means the first person to be in a system. Doomant / Doormancy When a alter is no longer in the system, This can happen for any reason. Now, Why does this happen? Why are some people systems? Alot of times it is caused by a disorder, Example: BPD, DID, OSDD, UDD. It is usually caused by childhood trauma, Hence why there is alot of systems who are still minors. Though there are also Endogenic systems whom's validity I will not discuss here. Endogenic systems are not fully caused by trauma. Headspace / Innerworld This is the place that alters go when they are not fronting, Sometimes you can be in the innerworld and be fronting. Not everything is the same system across system. Introjects / Fictives / Factives / Brainmades A introject is a alter based off of something, This can be a umbrella term for fictives and factives. As they are both based off of something, Fictives are based off fictional characters or things and Factives real people or things. And brainmades are made by the brain. [ Systems cannot control who they split. ] Splitting This means for a new alters to form. Which can be a Introject, fictive, factive or brainmade. Amnesia barriers. Alot but NOT all systems have these. Basically this means you have a hard time remembering things between switches. Switching This means to switch from one alter to another in front. There are many kinds of switching but this is a basic definition. If there is any other terminology or questions you have feel free to ask me! we have been aware of our plurality for a year and know alot.
