Gets blinded with good music Abacab - Genesis I, a prog fanatic and certified lawnmower, have started to willingly indulge in Genesis' pop era. Idk what's gotten into me but this album is very good and very fire. I like the sound of this thing, especially the keyboards (the first thing I think of as typing this is the weird synth thingy in the last half of Dodo/Lurker). I like that their earlier 80s stuff still retains a hint of the experimental nature that shaped their 70s material, for example Who Dunnit. Not their best work, but very fun! Fav songs: Dodo/Lurker, No Reply At All, Man On the Corner Aja - Steely Dan My best friend showed me this album on vinyl and we had a good time boogying down to it. It's a boogie haven. But it's also technically proficient! Even better! I would listen to this while driving, if I knew how to drive. It's smooth and sweet and chill. Also over half the album consists of songs over five minutes; surely cynicalthief approved. Has me bopping for an extended period of time. Fav songs: Black Cow, title track, I Got the News Heavy Weather - Weather Report Hhhrhrrweggdjnfb. What the heck this blew my mind. It's also boogie haven but in a wildly different way. I've never really checked out many jazz fusion bands but this intrigues me to do so. Every element of this is very nice. But. The fretless bass on this thing is absolutely delectable. Everything else is perfect, but that butter smooth bass sound is beyond perfect and just carries the whole album. RIP Jaco. Fav songs: Birdland, A Remark You Made, Teen Town
