Earth has an attractive force that helps everything stay put together (well, actually everything does, but let's not get into the details shall we....), and that force is Gravity. One scientist wondered, "What would happen if the Earth's Gravity started repelling stuff instead of attracting them?"... Well, seems like he went through his plans and did succeed in his mission.
