My Review: ⭐ I judge movies equally. And as with the previous review, I will not be biased against a movie based on its viewpoints. But let me come straight about Family Camp: this movie is much less dogmatic, granted, but its also much less interesting and has much, much less heart in it as well. Basically, it sucks. The only good thing was that they got the mom from Good Luck Charlie, and little do they know, I filled up on childhood nostalgia because that was my favorite sitcom as a kid. Oh, and the pastor guy was in a brief role in Garfield: The Movie, which was my favorite movie as a kid. So, they stacked up on actors I remember from my formulative years. And that’s it. First of all, the acting was terrible. They were not believable people, they were the most generic, cheesy, and formulative people I’ve ever seen. Their jokes were not funny. The only thing that got CLOSE to making me laugh was the whole “When God closes a door, he opens a Chick-Fil-A” or something. And when they were supposed to be emotional, they didn’t seem real. Maybe Eddie’s wife, but that’s it. Neither the “comedic” aspects or the “emotional” aspects were well-crafted. Hallmark movies are literally better. Family Camp is a comedy in the sense that Jack and Jill is a comedy. Second of all, the plot was not compelling. I was not interested, I was not intrigued, I was not watching it for the laughs, so what was I watching it for? (This was the second movie we watched at that church event, it was 6am and I was so freaking tired. My brain did not need this). The first half of the movie bumbles through to find a purpose while the second half is pseudo drama disguised as the real reason for the movie. It was just a bunch of scenes meant to pass the runtime. And I’m sorry, if you have to use a poorly made CGI beaver for comic effect/relief, you’ve already lost the battle. So, I guess that’s kinda a short review, but that’s because the consensus on this film is pretty brief: don’t watch it. Seriously. You’ll lose 90 minutes of your life you can’t get back. What I watched it on: THE BIG SCREEN (a projector) Other critics: Rotten Tomatoes: 40% Metacritic: idk wikipedia doesn't say, assume its bad.
Don't judge a book by its cover most of the time, but in this case, it's as bad as it looks. My friend's brother is an exact doppelganger of the son.
