‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿ Name: Whisper of the Ferns Fandom: Warrior Cats ‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿ Cultural — Two clans, Echoclan and Nestclan, reside near one another. Each has their own unique traditions, while they also share a few very important moments... They share a method of funeral, which is to allow the close family of the cat to mourn, and by the time the sun rises over the fallen cat, the family will bury them under the flora that best represents them. This is considered respect, and the plant they are buried under is never to be harmed by any cat. In the cases of medicine cats, they are buried, and then berries are planted over them, to grow, that they may continue to help their clan both in the form of herbs for all the clan, and guides for the next medicine cat. The second tradition the two clans share is the Whispernest - a single night where the two clans unite, sleeping under the stars in a clearing surrounded by cedars, as if they were all littermates. Some other celebrations may be to bring a gift that night, leaving it in a pile between a few roots. A cat may take any item as a memorial to that night. They go to sleep at midnight, and from dusk to midnight, they spend it in complete silence. Some cats claim to have seen and met a relative they have not seen since their passing.. which causes this moment to be considered to be closest to the spirits of the forest, to Whisperclan. ‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿ Geographic — This roleplay will be set in Northern Washington / Canada, in some random fictional valley. This will have harsher winters, warmer summers, and lots of rainfall. ‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿ Echoclan Traditions — ☾ The Whispering This event follows a warrior apprentice ceremony. After the apprentice is named, they must venture into the canyons whisper their name into a small chasm, with the leader, the medicine cat and their mentor overseeing this. If their voice comes out clearly, they are believed to be aligned well with Whisperclan. If it wavers, their training will be watched more closely. ☾ Ancestral Echoing This occurs before they travel to the Whispernest - the clan all goes about the day before without a word. This is believed to prepare them for the ceremony - and when they begin to walk to the Whispernest, they all let out a song together, which is believed to awaken the spirits of Whisperclan. ☾ Echoes of the Past In this memory, the apprentices and new warriors will gather under the stars, in the canyon. The senior warriors and elders will tell stories, which will be retold one day again, to pass on the echoes from the beginning. Each warrior or elder has a story to tell, and these are a way to pass on lessons for each cat to carry and remember. ‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿ Nestclan Traditions — ↟ The Weaved When a kit becomes an apprentice, their mother or father ( or the medicine cat, if neither are present ) will take their nest apart. The nest is rebuilt by the apprentice and their mentor, and it will be used by both of them that night. Every moon of training, the mentor will be expected to add a new flower, herb, or feather to their apprentice's nest, creating a deep bond. ↟ The Cradle of Moss This ceremony begins when a queen begins kitting, ane lasts until the night after. During this time, no cat except for close family and the medicine cat are allowed to visit her. She will give birth between the roots of a cedar tree, in a bed of live moss. This will often be strewn with wildflowers. She will sleep in the safety of this cradle with her kits and mate, before being moved to the nursery the next day. ↟ The Whispered Blessings When the kit is three days old, their mother will bring them to the same cradle as they were born in. The elders of the clan will whisper to each kit a gentle wish, whether of good fortune or strong will. Nestclan believes these blessings will settle and tie to the cat, to carry on through life. ‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿‿ Notes — .
