Since it's getting somewhat close to Halloween I decided to write my own Halloween story called Key and Lock. This is the very first chapter and I look forward to writing this series! (Sorry it's so short) Characters: Danielle Key, age 12 Melody Key, age 45 Andrew Key, age 46 Key and Lock: Chapter One The key to having a good life? Having someone who gets you. I'm not talking about that random friend you see once in a while. I'm talking about your bestiest, best bff. That person who gets you. Who understands you. And when you lose that, it feels like you're missing something. Like a puzzle missing a piece. That's what I feel like right now. Like I'm missing something. Hi. I'm Danielle Key, and let me tell you something: moving sucks. You lose all of your friends, your home, and you have to start all over again, which is what I'm doing right now. So now I feel like a puzzle piece missing all its pieces. I used to live in the city. It was great there. Huge parks, nice(er) schools, and I had my best friend Vanessa Flakes. She really got me. But now I'm moving away to some tiny rural town in who-knows-where. I sighed and leaned back. My family was driving to our new home. I was an only child, and had done my best to convince my parents, Andrew and Melody Key, to stay in the city, but of course they hadn't listened to me. So now I was sitting in the backseat of our small car, freezing to death because Mom refused to turn the air down. It was a cold October day, and getting closer and closer to Halloween! I was wearing my classic Halloween outfit; an orange sweater with a pumpkin stitched on it, tight black pants, and my scuffed-up black combat boots. "Almost there, Danielle!" My dad called from the front seat. Oh, great. I could see a town in the distance. I hoped our new house would at least be nice. But as we drove in town, I wasn't so sure. The houses loomed over us, tall and dark. The few people we saw looked away as soon as they saw us. It was eerily quiet. I got the feeling something wasn't quite right with this town. (Ch.2: still working on it!)
