The Dremodelon, also known as the Chthonic Leviathan due to it's Cthulhu like appearance, is a massive filter feeding creature that inhabits the waters of 496. It tends to dwell from depths from -90 to 0 levels below sea level. They use their tentacles to filter out larger creatures and organisms that get sucked up by their vacuum-like mouths. They travel in groups and their sheer size is too large for many 496 predators to take on but some creatures are known to prey on them. Their large massive compound eye helps them see, and the 6 eyes above it help detect light and depth respectively. The openings around their body below their large striking side fins are used for taking in oxygen from the waters. Despite the fact that having open passages to your blood stream may seem like a disadvantage, they harbor a culture of microorganisms that feed on any unhealthy microbes. Somewhat like a gut microbiome. If feeling threatened, they can expel hot air from their vents on the sides and rapidly heat up the waters around them at a suprising speed, although this is only effective in groups. Males have larger back claws then the females, and they use these claws to fight rivals.
