if you cant read the block of text: ok so since he’s a legacy of apollo, he definitely has two mortal parents. so. hear me out. his parents didn’t want him so they sent him to join the legion when he was 10 or 11. he began seeing the legion as his proper family which led to nationalism,, we dont like that here but whatever. ANYWAYYY because his parents suck he’s desperate for positive attention and does whatever he thinks will get him praise, no matter how morally “bad” or ambiguous they would be to someone who had a normal childhood. you will be seeing whispers of my ideas for jason seeping into here but i think it’d be awesome if they had parallels. anyway he slowly builds up his influence (which was already high because his family has a lot of influence as well) and he is using this to do what he personally believes would be best for new rome and the legion. however, some of these things would do more harm than good but he doesn’t really think it through because he’s so desperate to prove that he’s capable of doing good things and he truly wants what’s best for everyone. he’s just very misguided. apollo’s promise to him makes things worse, as it leads to him feeling like everything he wants to do truly is best for the legion, and everyone who doubts him just doesn’t realize how much his decisions will benefit them. he genuinely wants to do the right thing, he just doesn’t fully grasp the weight of his actions. he’s kinda giving that one girl who was like “bpd is ruining my life and all my relationships” except he doesn’t have an 82 year old korean man to tell him “at least you are trying and are kind” he just has his godly forefather telling him he’s good to do whatever. octavian needed the 82 year old korean man to support him not the unstable god with ego problems. also octavian’s last name is lucia now because why not (he and several other characters from camp jupiter need last names,,)
