Here is a drawing tutorial for how to draw messy/sketchy things that apparently look alright to most people (I think I appreciate the one I did for the tutorial tho) It's also a (NOT CANON) Star face reveal XD Instructions : FULLSCREEN or you won't see anything Click the panel to ZOOM and move it around Click anywhere else to de-zoom Click on the right arrow (key and background both work) for next Left arrow for previous Green flag to start How to draw step by step I made a 720x960 picture You don't see it here, but I use ctrl+Z all the time to get the lines right CTRL+Z IS MY BEST FRIEND #USECTRL+Z 1) main shapes, like a sketch for the actual sketch (for the sketch, I use the airbrush at size 12) 2) sketch 3) more sketch 4) even more + the sketch for the sketch of the leaf 5) said sketch of the leaf 6) sketch of the eyes 7) I never draw the eyes right, so I have to drag them and change the size to make it look alright 8) eyes 9) details, such as fur and sketch for the shading 10) lower opacity 11) oops, forgot the pattern details 12) lower opacity again (because I'll make the outlines with airbrush) 13) airbrush at 4, I start by the eyes (it's on a different layer) 14) keep drawing the outlines 15) more outlines (the head) 16) all outlines done 17) duplicate + fuse the duplicated layers because opacity is too low (that's the problem wih airbrush) 18) added details on the leaf 19) get rid of the sketch, we don't need it anymore (sometimes I need it for colors, but not that time) 20) main colors : I use painbrush at a random size and put opacity at random until it looks good (I used different layers for the colors) 21) color leaf. I wanted to clarify the process : it's not perfect, a lot of color is outside the outlines (did that for the main colors too) 22) I erease the things that need to be erased (I do that every time I color) 23) took some colors on Angelkit's ref and colored the feathers with it 24) shading! I love that part. took the main colors, made it darker and more blue-ish and then used it for the shading 25) lighting! took the main colors, made it lighter and more red-ish and then used it for lighting 26) same for leaf shading 27) and leaf lighting 28) eyes : its another layer, I used Star's red from the ref and the colors for the other eye are the exact same than Angelkit's eye color 29) darker thing 30) black circles (btw I'm still using paintbrush) 31) lil white reflexions 32) colored the eyelashes 33) Added "Star" and watermark. Done!
