They spoke many words. It seemed that I was referred to as "The Orb." This seemed like a good name. There was also "Pedestal," "Hero," and "Trial." The Orb's job was to stay away from Pedestal at all cost, until Hero arrived for his Trial. This was the way. This made sense. Eventually, the presences left, and I was alone. I do not feel time as it goes by if nothing is happening. There was simply the ocean waves lapping against the beach. I settled in for hibernation. When I next awoke, I felt intense pressure from the sand which was piled all around me. It didn't hurt, but it was lonely. Then, all at once, everything was shaking. And as if the whole world was whispering one word at once, I heard "Calamity." The shaking went on for a while, though it ceased eventually. And back in hibernation I was. It was too soon. I felt almost grumpy when I awoke again. The sand above me was vibrating, shifting, moving. Then, light. I didn't see it so much as felt it. Next was another presence! She heaved me out of the ground and looked at me. Was this Hero? It was possible, but something told me no. Was this Pedestal, then? If so, I was breaking the rule. But no, she didn't feel like Pedestal, either. "Roscoe!" She sang. "You are Roscoe! It's the perfect name!" She did not know I was The Orb? How could that be? "Roscoe, I'm Loone! I just love your smooth skin, your glowyness, oh you're beautiful! You're perfect! Flawless!" The presence- Loone- was eccentric. That much was clear, even to me. "Come on, Roscoe! You're gonna stay with me forever!" And so Loone carried me around everywhere she went. Not that we traveled very far. She seemed to have everything she needed within 20 meters of my original location. She always talked to me. About everything. Mostly about Guardians. "Oh Roscoe, did you know that there used to be guardians just like this one walking all around? Some even flew! And, I've even hear rumors that there are tiny ones out there! Can you imagine how adorable a tiny one of these would be!?" Nothing she talked about made sense, but she always cared for me, so that was ok. This was the way now. This made sense. It was on a particularly sunny afternoon when another presence appeared. And I knew. Hero! Hero was here! I was so excited, but being unable to move had its downsides. Then, tragedy struck. Loone told Hero off! She insisted she'd never let me go! She also told him what she'd told me about the guardians. And he left! As nice as it was to have such a loyal friend, Loone couldn't jeopardize my mission! But there was nothing I could do. I had to wait for Hero's return. Finally, he returned. He showed my captor something, which made her very happy. She leaped up and let go of me for the first time in weeks. I rolled unsteadily for a few seconds before Hero picked me up. We were going to Pedestal! It was time. I was expecting a long journey, but to my surprise Hero only walked a few steps. All this time, Loone could have brought me and Pedestal together. But she didn't. She must have known she had to wait for Hero. He placed me on Pedestal. I fit very comfortably. "... Thank you, Loone," I thought. "I will never forget you."
