i got really bored so uhhhhhhh PARAKEET SEED WORLD uhhhh I like parakeets. A recent arrival to the UK, the Ring-Necked Parakeet has quickly solidified itself as a constructive member of an unfamiliar ecosystem, without much, if any, ecological consequence. They have become a common sight, showing how adaptable these birds can really be. This had me thinking: how would this adaptability translate to a completely new environment, one completely formed for their survival, with no competition or predation? How would the parakeets change to exploit new food-sources and lifestyles in a world without any other large vertebrates? What would happen if some powerful force placed parakeets on a pre-seeded planet as the only large vertebrate, giving them a natural head-start in achieving dominance? This idea would come to be explored on Psitta: the world of Parrots. Psitta is an ongoing, chronological project, detailing the diversification of parakeets and other introduced organisms on the titular planet of Psitta. Three quarters the size of our own planet, Psitta was nonetheless terraformed to produce a worldwide ecosphere which was favorable to the parakeets. Only certain plants and animals were introduced, which either served as a food source for the parakeets or to maintain the ecosystem so that it did not degrade when separated from it's terraformers. From the beginning to the end, this planet will serve as a fascinating experiment in evolution. When left to it's own devices, the planet would come to produce a unique biosphere, shifting the original components into something completely new and extraordinary.
